Cantor not concerned that GOP cuts would reduce economic growth
CANTOR'S CONFOUNDING CONFUSION....

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) was asked yesterday about projections showing 700,000 job losses resulting from his caucus' spending plan. The Republican dismissed the projections and said what really matters is the judgment of the Fed chairman.

"(L)ook, we had the chairman of the Federal Reserve yesterday indicate that the cuts that we were proposing, $61 billion off of the oh-10 levels, were not going to in any way significantly reduce the prospects for growth."

If Cantor is inclined to take Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke's perspective seriously, I'm delighted. Indeed, the House Majority Leader made it sound as if Bernanke's judgment is the only one that matters.

No problem. It might interest Cantor to know, then, that Bernanke believes the House Republicans' proposed cuts would slow the U.S. economy and force 200,000 American workers out of their jobs.

<...>

In other words, the one official Cantor is willing to rely on as a credible source for economic projections believe Cantor's own plan would hurt the economy, cost jobs, and make the nation less competitive.

<...>

5. Of course not. Republicans' chances in 2012 go up exponentially the worse the economy is.
They know exactly what they are doing.

10. Given that they control the House now
and a majority of people don't want the level of draconian cuts they are proposing nor are the Republicans spending any time doing anything to create jobs (and in fact passing things that ensure more job LOSSES), I don't see how their attempts to pin the blame for things getting worse (or not much better) by 2012 strictly on the Democrats is going to work. Of course, they're not interested in all in trying to solve problems. Their only goal is attaining power through figuring out how to best manipulate the public into voting for them (against their own interests).

7. The only thing he is worried about is
Being targeted by the teabaggers when he comes up for re-election! He is not alone. I read yesterday that they are going to go after Boehner, and have already said they were going after several other republicans!

The teabaggers are using "FEAR" to control the old timers in the party. They think they can get whatever they want by threats of running their own candidates come primary time, and it seems to be working! The right wing created these "monsters" and now they have to deal with the fact that the "monsters" are going to eat them alive!

I have always said that the republicans in congress are damned if they do and damned if they don't when it comes to the tea party. If the cater to the tea party, they alienate moderate republicans, and if the don't cater to the tea parties every whim, they risk being targeted in the primaries! Right know they don't know what to do, and the party is splitting on a daily basis! All I can say is it couldn't happen to a better bunch of idiots than the republican party!
