(R)asmussen WI POLL: Walker disapproval at 57%. Obama approval at 55%.
Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker won his job last November with 52% of the vote, but his popularity has slipped since then.

A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Wisconsin Voters finds that just 34% Strongly Approve of the job he is doing, while 48% Strongly Disapprove. Overall, including those who somewhat approve or disapprove, the new Republican governor earns positive reviews from 43% and negative reviews from 57% of voters statewide.

In addition to the usual partisan and demographic breakdowns, it’s interesting to note that Walker, now engaged in a budget battle with unionized state workers, receives a total approval rating of 46% from households with private sector union members. However, among households with a public sector union member, only 19% offer their approval. Among all other households in the state, opinion is nearly evenly divided—49% favorable and 51% unfavorable

...

President Obama is viewed favorably by 55% of voters statewide. Typically, a president’s reelection vote total is similar to his job approval rating. Therefore, if the election were held today in Wisconsin, Obama would be heavily favored to win the state’s Electoral College votes.

7. It also puts belies all the people who want him in Wisconsin.
Obama's just proven with this poll that staying out of Wisconsin was a smart move and allowing the people to do what they have to do is the right move.

9. Now if only he'd apply this same lesson to the growing split between the repubs and teabaggers in
congress. He should oppose negotiating with them completely and watch their coalition splinter with their leaders pleading for a deal and the baggers call for big cuts.

13. The problem with doing that I think is that he needs to get things done.
I mean, let's think about it. If he does that, then we'd get no legislation---He would be governing while the Government did absolutely nothing. That can' work when the government is there to get things done. So it's work with them and do a few things or not work with them and get NOTHING done. It's like shutting down the government without shutting it down. It's the same thing with prosecuting the Bush crimes. Do that and we shut down the Gov...indefinitely.

16. I don't see the value in getting things done if they aren't good for anyone but corporations.
Honestly he'd be better off doing nothing.

10. Wow, and this is a Rasmussen poll, Walker's really in trouble
This is really bad for Walker, unless Rasmussen suddenly decided the 2012 electorate will be much more democratic then the voter pool (Rasmussen applies a likely voter model no matter how far away the election is, even though lots can change in the national political mood in 2 years).

Fox news' coverage isn't working then, that's for sure. Just today I saw that Fox was now labeling the protesters 'the entitled'.

15. The real eye opener
Hate to throw cold water on this, but look again at the poll results. Almost one in five public sector union members, and almost half private sector union members back Walker. Having never been a collective bargaining unit member or state worker, why should I attempt to help these groups when there are significant minorities within the unions that want to be screwed? I guess the main reason to help out to protect collective bargaining is Keynesian economics. I find these poll results disappointing.
