Haley Barbour?
George Will's prescious 5
Let us not mince words. There are at most five plausible Republican presidents on the horizon - Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels, Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour, former Utah governor and departing ambassador to China Jon Huntsman, former Massachusetts governor Romney and former Minnesota governor Tim Pawlenty.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2011/03/04/AR2011030404613.html

Haley Barbour???

Here is the explanation- Barbour is still the big money man for the Party of the South. He was RNC chair through the meat of the W administration and he has all the numbers to all the big donors. Personality is bleh for him. Record is that he was a Governor and all of DC is convinced that Governors are the WINNING ticket (please ignore the landslide by a Senator in 2008). He has money or at least knows where to get it including massive amounts of recovery money for Mississippie after Katrina.

What George Will is also telling us is that Newt is dead in the water at least without Barbour supporting him. Newt is the product of Barbour's money machine to start with and he rose according to Barbour's blessing.

Notice that they are all Governors or former Governors. Huntsman, I thought, was rumored to possibly run against Obama for the Dem nomination but Will may be trying to court him. Romney is the perfect Republican candidate pre-Obama: nice haircut, nice wife, from at least 3 states, and is a cardboard cutout and they can SELL anything with their media operation and the rest of the media that follows theirs including a cardboard cutout.

Barbour reminds me of a redneck Sheriff who they see as just the guy to stand up to this know-it-all college boy who thinks he knows every damned thing. It would be quite a picture Barbour running against Obama and it would really reveal the United States and what we have re-become.

1. They have to run governors..
cause any GOP senator had been voting with Bush along.

OOOPS.

Daniels is the only sitting elected official on that list. And if I was the GOP , I would run a governor from the north.

Haley , no way in hell.

4. ...I never thought anyone would be stupid enough to vote for Reagan, either...

and that's when he was running for governor of California...Look how that turned out.

With the USA, you can't expect reason or rationality in elections, especially when there is huge amounts of money involved.
Take it all seriously-you never know.

7. Hate to admit this, but
every time I hear Barbour speak I wonder if he was the inspiration for Boss Hogg . . .
