I hope everyone who doubted the Wisconsin public employees could win learns something

First, it's not over yet --many said it was just a matter of time.

Second, it's clear that by fighting back, they realized more power than many of us thought they had.

Third, never underestimate the power of fighting back. I'm thinking mainly of those who say that Obama has to compromise on certain issues before he's even put up a fight for something. I want everyone to know that when Obama does decide to fight, even what seems like a lost cause, he can change the dynamic. I'm upset at key opportunities where that was not done.

In the mid-90's they said Clinton was finished, after the Republicans took over Congress. Clinton vetoed their budget and pissed off Dick Armey and Newt Gingrich --in the midst of the shutdown. Even though he was a Third Way politician, later known for triangulation --Bill Clinton stuck it in the eye of the Congressional Republicans before the shutdown and in Dick Armey's words, "you're scaring my mother!"

When push comes to shove, I want to know that Obama will do the same. The most vulnerable in society are being sacrificed for a compromise that hasn't been reached yet. They deserve a fight.

And when I think about the sacrifices we've been told are needed, well I haven't seen a real fight put up to have those at the top sacrifice in a way that will not hurt them a bit and in return, those at the bottom, paying heating bills or for college, their sacrifice has not been likewise derailed.

Change the dynamic. People have to fight back. Things can change.

10. WAYY the F over 50!
Not sure what you're trying to say here.

I'm HERE and I KNOW how many more than "50" there are. There are more than "50" at 8 pm! There are more than "50" at 2 am! There are more than "50" at 6 am!

6. excellent point
This winter has been a long difficult winter...Walker's power grab came at a time when Wisconsinites were fed up in general...we fortunately had a week of decent weather and that's when all hell broke less, once it got cold again we still turned out on February 26th with over 100,000 protesters in Madison...any native Wisconsinite knows that once you hit the end of February there isn't any kind of weather we can't handle. 20 degrees on a late February day beats the hell out of -20 in January...the ongoing protests represent the persistence and dogged determination we show every winter--this year it was actually fun. Solidarity Wisconsin! We are going to win this...and the culmination will come next year when we recall the bastard in the governor's office.

7. Damn right!
The current weather has been nothing. They didn't even cancel school until we had an actual blizzard. A few meager inches of snow can't stop us! :toast:

8. Obama can Learn from WI -- Fight even if you may loose because u earn Respect
Thanks to Egypt it seems the world has caught the fever and learning to fight for what they want saying damn you to their elected officials.
Uprisings are everywhere in the world and the battle at Wisconsin is no different. What is also not different is Obama's fear of getting into a conflict and will give away the everything to avoid a fight. I really wish he would just stand for the people and then when all options are explored than you compromise. What he is doing is giving away the queen before negotations begin -- why does he keep doing that?

Anyway, its nice to see WI shows that there are Americans out there that still have fight in them. Granted it is for the basics of things and wish this kind of fight would be for things like UNiversal Healthcare too but this is a start.
