Elisabeth Hasselbeck just said the GOP should give up on defeating Obama in '12 |
|
Edited on Thu Mar-10-11 11:32 AM by Keith Bee
She said that the Republicans might want to be "saving their time and energy" for 2016. (Somebody with better computer/video skills than I---that is, pretty much everybody---will shortly be uploading the relevant clip from today's edition of The View.)
So, E.H. has actually said something intelligent. We all know what this means. I'm going down to my basement shelter now, and I wish everybody here good luck in surviving the imminent Apocalypse.

5. The conventional wisdom is often completely wrong... |

There is no doubt that the Republicans are entirely lacking a decent candidate, but you just never know. Someone who was considered a 2016 candidate may move up their timetable, or someone we hadn't considered may emerge.
I've always thought Obama would win in 2012, but a lot can change between now and election day. Remember also, the media likes a horse race. The weaker the GOP candidate is, the harder they will attack Obama in order to make the election close.

22. Explain!!? - the entire popular Left movement has been in a tailspin since his election. |
|
We've lost Acorn, a very potent 40 year old organization that used to help register poor people to vote and effectively fight large scale corporate fraud that specifically targeted the poor. Planned parenthood, NPR, and PBS are all facing similar fates, as they are targeted with smear attacks and defunding campaigns. The one sympathetic TV station on Cable has been taken over by a hostile corporation that has never been friendly to the people. We've lost the war on corporate financing of elections. Tycoons in essential industries like health-care and power have formed into oligarchies and use the money to subvert our democracy at a scale which used to be considered criminal. And while they are free to dump billions into media campaigns and black ops, union rights are being stripped in multiple states in order to prevent people from fighting back. Large numbers of people are being driven into poverty and for many more it is just a matter of time. Millions are losing their houses, and their retirement savings, to cover up for the crimes of people who apparently have friends in every party and government. The people are losing. We are besieged on all sides, and the Obama administration is hiding in a bunker. I've heard his style described as rope-a-dope, but even in rope-a-dope you have to punch back sometime.

18. That is why the GOP across the states is doing what it is doing. |
|
The GOP is dying.
The 2010 midterms, sadly, gave them a last gasp to screw things up even worse across the country.
They know they can't win, and so their strategy is to leave nothing but scorched earth as they are replaced.
Its like Saddam burning the oil fields.

If he thinks he's won with this little underhanded move he used to strip unions of their rights, I hope he enjoys seeing his state shut down by irate public workers.

Obama is making mistake after mistake by trying to stay above a fray that he should be in the middle of, so who knows what will happen?
