The Weiner Word
Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-NY), a proponent of universal single-payer health care, told MSNBC today that he hasn't decided whether he would vote for a bill that looks like what's in the Senate right now. "A lot of people like myself are weighing right now whether or not something is better than nothing," he said, acknowledging that this may be the last shot Congress gets at health care reform for a long time.

.... and I THINK that officially checks off everyone on my litmust test list.

My take on what he said .... he's not happy, wants the President to "get off of the sidelines" and is using the fact that he somewhat agrees with Dean as leverage. Still, he deems that the bill currently is more good than bad and "will vote for it unless it gets worse."

2. Weiner's is a reasonable position to take, since he sees the process as still in play..

I respect him, and would not be at all surprised if he votes against the reconciled bill if it doesn't restore at least some of what we have lost thanks to the Senate's (and the president's) lack of leadership.

4. huh?
He'd vote against it if it restored "some of what we've lost"?

Did you leave out a negative modifier there? :)

7. You got me there. I've corrected the sentence in bold.
It made no sense the way I (sloppily) typed it.

Thanks for catching it.

10. Yeah, I can see that.
Some folks think I'm a "hater," but I feel more like a jilted lover in this case.

13. I still like Joe B.
Do you think he has tried to help us out in this one?

I'd love to know what goes on behind the scenes.

11. Can beggars be choosers? Still, I agree, Snow looks mighty good
Next to the mummified, crypt-keeperesque Nelson (D-Pits of Hell).
