3. Republicans play hardball. The only Dem who knows how to play hardball lost her speakership.
And, that's a damn shame. Nancy Pelosi once said, 'When you got the votes, you take the votes.'

For Republicans, when you have the governorship and both houses in the state legislature like Walker in Wisconsin, you use that power for your political aims. Never mind that you did not campaign on ending collective bargaining and trying to strip unions of all political power.

We need more tough Dems like Nancy Pelosi. Instead, we have wimpy Blue Dogs and too may moderate, corporate Democrat who can't seem to figure out which side they are on.

7. As Speaker, she also legislated rings around Boehner.
I so hope she is reinstated as Speaker in 2012.

4. From State Rep Terese L Berceau
"They abruptly took the vote...as we knew they would...and walked off the floor...some of them smiling."

Wisconsin Assembly passes collective bargaining bill

MARY SPICUZZA
Thursday, March 10, 2011 3:45 pm

There was shouting, screaming, and chants of "Shame!"

And that was just among the members of the state Assembly.

The controversial budget repair bill passed the Assembly 53-42 after a chaotic morning at the state Capitol, which involved protesters being dragged away from the entrances to the Assembly chamber leading up to the 11 a.m. floor session.

"You ought to be ashamed of yourselves," Rep. Tamara Grigsby said after Republicans insisted the bill would pass Thursday. "And I swear I don't understand how you walk out of this building with your heads up."

The bill, which effectively strips collective bargaining rights from nearly all public workers in Wisconsin and makes sweeping changes to Medicaid programs, now heads to the desk of Gov. Scott Walker for his signature. It passed the state Senate on Wednesday night with none of the 14 Senate Democrats present.

6. More from talkingpointsmemo...
When asked for comment, the state Democratic Party sent us this statement from chairman Mike Tate:

It is a shameful day for Wisconsin. Ultimately, our working families will have their day and Scott walker's victory will ring as hollow as his pledges to their wellbeing. Today, the Koch Brothers can pop some champagne. But know that our total focus now is on recall.
