1. Well...
when is he going to use it? I don't expect him to walk in Wisconsin, but have you heard anything from him? Don't get me wrong, I voted for him. I'm just wondering what he's doing.

2. What do you want him to say?
Elections have consequences. It appears there was no way to stop the GOP in WI. People should have voted for the people who cared about them in the state. Lets not forget, this is the state that left Feingold hanging by the balls. A true fighter for the cause

61. I am personally glad Obama is not...
getting totally involved because all that will happen is he will be look at as meddling in state politics...The media would go nuts & it would hurt more than it would help because the story would shift from away from the wonderful sights we saw in WI of the people fighting for their rights to all about President Obama.

16. The cookie's not crumbling. the Unions aren't going anywhere. the Repigs have blown it this time.
Edited on Thu Mar-10-11 06:52 PM by WolfoftheWild
They think that by doing this they will decrease Union participation in 2012.

They have just assured an increase of Union participation across the board in all Electoral activities between now and 2012.
They've just won the right to Town Hall meetings filled with protesters for 2 years.
They've just guaranteed that all the people in the Union, their relatives and friends, and a very sympathetic public will be speaking with their votes in 2012. Many of whom didn't vote or voted Republican in 2010.

The Cookie's not crumbling.
In fact, there's going to be a big ol' bake sale!

53. If you seriously think that
then you have not been paying attention to what's going on here.

The people are mobilized. They are angry. We will not back down. This fight will go on. Recall efforts are already underway, and the very legality of everything the Repugs are doing it being called into question. More than half the state is against Walker. The Repugs are scrambling, desperate, knowing they have overplayed their hand.

Tyrants always fall.

This is far from over.

9. What a good use of Cenk's time.
Instead of devoting his show to the injustice just visited on Wisconsin's working class--such as providing links to recall petitions, donation sites, talking to people on the ground--he decides to bad-temperedly take potshots at the President.

What a waste of a time slot. Bring Keith back.

15. And I repeat...
During a 2007 campaign speech in Spartanburg, South Carolina, then-Senator Obama told supports he would fight for collective bargaining rights if he was elected president.

“And understand this: If American workers are being denied their right to organize and collectively bargain when I’m in the White House, I’ll put on a put on a comfortable pair of shoes myself. I’ll walk on that picket line with you as president of the United States.”

This video was uploaded to YouTube Nov. 3, 2007:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5voSHCn6NE

Anyone seen him doing much of anything he said he'd do in this clip?

17. not even a hint.
He doesn't have the backbone for that kind of fight. The GOP knows it and is capitalizing on it.

He preaches and practices compromise, even when compromise is the worst possible choice. He wishes to be seen above the fray, only to prove to the opposition that he can't handle the heat, so he won't fight. Instead, he adapts their ideas, he adopts their platform, and he throws his base under the bus.

The candidate of 2008 showed great promise, hope and audacity.
The president of 2011 shows none of that, especially the hope or audacity bits.

18. We could dream of millions of Democrats descending on D.C. with signs demanding campaign promises
- calling out POTUS so to speak.

Yes.

We could dream.

Or at least ask for a vote refund.

I honestly DO think Hillary would have done better by this point. At least she seemed more willing to push back and she would have realized the power of the power Dems held in the first two years.

Edited on Thu Mar-10-11 08:48 PM by Armstead
We have yet to hear any kind of similar speech about the concerted attacks on unions and workers to bring attention to what republicans are doing throughout the country, not just in Wisconsin.

So I guess the Big Microphone is too valuable to waste on a core crisis in the country. Instead it is reserved for Clinton style 1996 campaign stunts and pep talks to business.
