C-Span2: Senate Debates Bernie Sanders' Single-Payer Proposal (around 11AM)
Senate Debates Sanders' Single-Payer Proposal

The Senate on Wednesday, starting at around 11 a.m. eastern, will debate for the first time in American history a proposal to create a single-payer, Medicare-for-all health care system. The Sanders Amendment would provide health care and dental coverage for every American, save money, and improve health care results."In my view, the single-payer approach is the only way we will ever have a cost-effective, comprehensive health care system in this country," said Sen. Bernie Sanders, whose amendment will come before the Senate. To look at a fact sheet on the Sanders Amendment, click here.

7. Yes. Apparently they are. Sanders just asked for the reading to be waived and he objected.

8. Just before that, Coburn insisted for an amendment certifying that every senator "understood" the
bill.

We would like to be sure they are able to understand it, but how do you do that? Standardized testing?

9. And now they are forced by the bully repugs to read the whole amendment.
They know it has no chance of passing, they just like to rub salt in the wound.

I gotta hand it to them, they really know how to make it hurt.

10. Notice how much more effective the GOP is in opposition than we were for 8 years?

11. Oh, they totally kick our collective ass, without a doubt.
I've never seen a bigger bunch of worthless Dems in my life.

Actually, I shouldn't call them worthless, they do a great job for big business.

12. Given the amendment is more than 300 pages, they certainly found the way to block any debate.

14. Geez! MSNBC just now realized the R's have demanded Sanders' bill be read.
Say it could take until midnight. Of course, the R's have to stay on the floor, or Sanders can ask the reading be waived.
