Oh those anti-aid, anti help comments are flowing
Across the US Navy and defence facebook pages on the news reports that the US 7th Fleet is helping Japan. The reason? US is in debt, thefore it should not help other rich countries.

I've always been arguing, dont open such new reports to comments. But alas, the facebook bug has bitten all US federal deparments/services that they open the fan pages for people to bitch on. Funnily enough, only the State Department blocks people from commenting on their fan page.

1. NYC is rich: why should other parts of the country have come to help on 9-11?
the US is rich, why should Canada have opened its airports on 9-11?

3. I don't think Japan is the best source for US financial aid, but material aid looks vital.
Japan still has lots of money, especially compared to places like Africa; I don't think that sending them financial aid is appropriate.

However, my understanding is that there are a bunch of specific things that Japan desperately needs in a hurry, like expertise and heavy lifting equipment, and if the US or other nations can supply those things faster than they could be bought then they should certainly do so.
