I told you so. I said that Obama would be a Clinton type Centrist. (Not an Obama bashing thread)

I thought that Bill Clinton was a great President and before this last election predicted that Obama would be as well, in many of the same ways.

Would I like a more Progressive direction? Obviously, yes. But I am a realist.

Don't be surprised.

Onehandle told you so.

Obama/Biden 2012.

1. No one believed me, either, when I said so. Both want everyone to like them. nt

2. A lot of people warned about that during the primaries, but few are still here,
having been driven off the board for having the audacity to say such awful, awful things.

14. I said it,
and I'm still here. I guess I just said it nicely enough that I didn't raise anyone's ire.

3. Same here. I can't believe people didn't see that he wasn't a centrist.
I didn't want him nominated, but this country is so far to the far right, that only a centrist Dem can ever get elected. And even then he is called a "commie"! Many things need to change in this country before a progressive is ever to be elected to the highest office.

5. You were rioght -- But please refrain from the useless meme about "realist"
"Would I like a more Progressive direction? Obviously, yes. But I am a realist."

This cliche implies that there is only one version of "realism."

It is possible to say that there are more pro-active and optimistic ways of being a "realist."

Actually, assuming that getting better outcomes is not possible is more accurately defined as "cynicism."

(To be honest, current events are causing me to flirt much more with cynicism myself.)

6. Obama still thinks he's a Senator. He needs to start acting like the President
.

7. Thanks for not posting another Pres. Obama bashing thread
but I think you're right to the extent that it's the Democratic Party controlled Congress that's pushing him to the right of where the majority of the American people are. He's always been a pragmatist and will have to do whatever it takes to get anything through that corrupt corporate body of our government.

8. I wasn't for him at first as I did see he leaned to the right.
In the end he won me over. I knew what I was going to get I just hoped he would be a little more progressive. There is still hope, don't give up so quickly.

10. I cried the night he was elected
I had so much hope for a better future for us all, but if the health insurance bill is an example of his political skill, god help us - god help us all.

11. Which is why the only two choices we had, Hillary and himself were not
my choices. Clinton governance isn't good or effective enough after the Bush/Cheney piracy years. We need an FDR. I hope Obama starts turning in that direction.

13. Obama and Clinton are not centrists
Maybe they're not as progressive as we are. But they are definitely populists.

Obama/Biden 2012!
