Did we just invade Libya? Did I miss something? |
|
Perhaps it was all the dreadful news about Japan?

2. Another expensive way of taking out another dictator? |
|
Surely we could just send in a couple of James Bonds - would be much cheaper?

even to use missiles already made and paid for (with expiration dates) against those who are willing to kill thousands more if allowed?
Really?

9. 800,000 Rwandan's were'nt worth a nickel |
|
Edited on Sun Mar-20-11 10:29 PM by golfguru
The Rwandan Genocide was the 1994 mass murder of an estimated 800,000 people in the small East African nation of Rwanda. Of course those Africans had no oil deposits. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rwandan_Genocide

11. They were only of value as to what not to do the next time, once they were dead..... |
|
Which is the point here. Somehow, the danger of death to millions by a 42 year long dictator and the mercenaries he rented to kill his own must be proven via dead bodies before some of the most cold blooded will be moved.
quaint!

800,000 Rwandans is hundred times worse than 8000 Libyans.

14. That's not really an argument you want to start. |
|

Tax dollars should be for lives. Tax dollars should pay for health benefits for all. But the administration didn't go there. Tax dollars should pay for aid in countries where children are starving and preventable diseases run rampant. We spent more on the missiles we shot off yesterday than for aid to those countries.
Had we a less timid president, one who could decide what to do before backed into a corner, we would have finessed this earlier. We would have had the Q out instead of continuing to do business with him. Notice that we aren't invading North Korea. Is that an action you would support? How about the other middle eastern countries where multi-decade dictators are currently killing their citizens? Bahrain? Yemen? We going there too. How about those former Soviet mini-countries where the people are repressed? You favor going there?
How about a little volunteerism? I think you concern for the people of Libya is admirable. How much money have to sent to the resistance? Have you served in the military? Join up. It's good to put your boots where you mouth is.
Now, look into your soul. Would you be so much in favor of this if bush were still president? How is this war different than daddy bush's war? Did you support that attack?
What is comes down to is the ready willingness to spend billions for war, but not for schools, health care, and creating jobs.

15. Opposing war 'makes one a Republican'? I smell mendacity. And hypocrisy. |
|
When Bush did this kind of intervention to topple the Iraqi 'dictator' who 'killed his people' Democratic Underground members were 99% against the bombings and the ensuing war.
The President was not elected to be 'saviour' of the world's oppressed or 'top cop.' I suggest you read the Constitution of the United states.

18. But those are bad things. It is not possible for a true believer to be bad. |
|
All that constitution stuff and talk about moral centers is just so confusing and hard. It's easier to just go with "If Obama does it, it is good." See less brain hurt from all that thinking and reasoning.
