Libyan rebels in Benghazi: "Thank you, France. Thank you, America. Obama good, Sarkozy good."
Edited on Sun Mar-20-11 07:41 PM by ClarkUSA
CNN's Arwa Damon reporting from Benghazi.

She reports Benghazi residents wanting everyone to know that Gaddafi's claims of coalition attacks striking civilian targets are not true--the strikes on Gaddafi's tanks outside Benghazi were "right on target."

She also reported that the people of Benghazi "have one message, and that is: 'Thank you!'"

Earlier reports said that at least 94 people were killed when Gaddafi forces attacked Benghazi with tanks and heavy artillery late Friday night and early Saturday morning before the arrival of the French jets.

"Yesterday was a catastrophe," said Salwa el-Daghili, a member of the opposition national council that governs rebel-held territory. "Today, there is hope — you can see it on the streets."

Outside the city, hundreds of men roamed the wreckage of the tanks and army vehicles hit by the allied strikes.
Shredded blankets, torn foam mattresses and empty cans of tomato paste littered the field.

"Thank you, France. Thank you, America," said Abdul-Gader Dejuli as he surveyed the wreckage. "Obama good, Sarkozy good."

"We only want airplanes, definitely no troops on the ground, especially American ones," said Mohammed Salama, 20, a medical student who lives in Benghazi. "We have seen what they do in Iraq, and we don't want that in Libya."
