Does anyone here actually BELIEVE that Sarah Palin WON'T be running for Prez next year? |
|
Edited on Tue Mar-22-11 12:14 AM by Keith Bee
For those who do, let me to assure you that
1) I do not have a beer gut. 2) Jesus speaks audibly to me four times a week. 3) Drew Barrymore and I are having a torridly sexual affair in secret.
Come ON, people: Of course Half-Gov Youbetcha is gonna run! Her messianic ego shall allow nothing less!

I don't think the Republicon leaders are enamored of her much, except that they enjoy her ability to get people riled up.

5. Well, I'm not so sure. |
|
I mean, she could just be doing what she's doing so she can get some attention.
I have a feeling she'll just stick to shooting moose. But I do hope she runs.

I doubted it a year ago.
Beyond that, does anyone here believe that it even matters? She won't get the nomination anyway. It can only be a "win" for Dems. First it would draw money away from serious Republican contenders and any debate with Palin is like shooting fish in a barrel only getting to use nuclear weapons instead of a gun.
Stupid is, stupid does. Let her run, it can only help us. I however never expected her to seriously run and after the Giffords shooting it is almost a sealed deal against her doing so.

12. You don't think she can get the nomination of the wingnutty GOP? |
|
Personally, I think that's exactly what their establishment---increasingly buffetted by Teabaggers---is getting so freaked out about. The Greedy Old Plutocrats know that Obama would score a 46-state victory over her, so they've been scrambling to poo-poo her chances of being nominated. But, having embraced the Tea Party, the Republicans have to live with the consequences.

10. Yes. When she quit the governorship, she made it clear she's no longer a politician. |
|
She's a highly paid entertainer.
Anything she's done since then that appears to be preparing for a run is actually just a tease, required illusion to keep her market value high. She's enjoying the big bucks, and not working very hard for them. It's not likely she'll give it up to run for the difficult job of president. IMHO, of course.
If she does run, it will be a bit of a farce. She couldn't even finish one term as governor of a small state? She's not a credible candidate, even for Republican primary voters. I really don't see it happening.

Too much work. She'll collect money from her sheep and I know there comes a point when you have to report where your money is coming from. Just before that moment, she'll declare her family needs her in Alaska.

18. She will pretend to run, that's all. |
|
And the media will pretend to take her seriously. They will NOT be pretending to cover her, though, as she is good copy. Pretending to run will also benefit the other GOP contenders, as they all will look sane by comparison. Good times all around.

19. She may run, but won't get within a hundred miles of the platform. |
|
It'll be interesting to see what the neocons use to get rid of her, though. Tax evasion? Alleged affairs? With minors? Trig? That last one seems unlikely, but I wouldn't rule it out.

She will absolutely NOT run. Y'all forget that it takes money to run...lots and lots of money...and she doesn't have enough and wouldn't use her own money even if she had it. Nobody with half a brain would back a loser.
She's a teabagger. There's another thread about the recent teabagger convention that had a whopping 300 people. There isn't enough money there or support or votes.
I do hope the teabaggers run someone, maybe Rand Paul. A right-wing third party candidate would be a dream come true!

I think she knows she can't win anything...she couldn't even be elected gov again in Alaska at this point. She is doing all of this to make $$ while people know her name.
I think she is someone like an Al Shaprton or Jesse Jackson which just really want a lot of attention, but know they aren't going to get elected to anything. They stay in the limelight by pretending to be presidential candidates, but they know they aren't going to be real contenders.
Sarah won't do anything to screw up her book deals and speaking fees like becoming president.

25. Why take the pay cut? |
|
She's in the catbird seat right now. She's making more in a few speaking engagements than the President makes in a year. She has the media's ear. She gets to speak and shape policy on the Right. And she doesn't have to have any sort of actual responsibility from where she sits right now.
I see no reason for her to run, from her perspective. She's got a far better gig at the moment.
I've doubted that she would actually run for quite some time. I sincerely don't think that she will.
