The GOP’s Census problem
:D

The GOP’s Census problem
By Aaron Blake and Chris Cillizza

When the Census released its reapportionment totals in December, much of the focus was on the new seats in red states, and how it was a good thing for Republicans.

The data released by Census on Thursday, though, shows how those same population shifts are creating new challenges for the GOP.

While much of the shifting population is moving to red states, there is increasing evidence that it’s making those red states bluer, and most of the demographic trends are heading in Democrats’ direction.

Census Bureau director Robert Groves summed it up best Thursday: “We are increasingly metropolitan today, our country is becoming racially and ethnically more diverse over time ... and geographically, there are a lot of areas of the country growing in number that have large minority populations.”

All three of those things suggest growing Demcoratic constituencies.
Let’s look at each individually:

1. Marc Rubio's been groomed to attract Latin vote. He'll end up as Someone's VP.

3. Yeah, that's what I see happening in 2016.
The media and the voting machines will go along for the ride and we will be knocked back to the 1920s.

If any one can say otherwise that'll sure help me sleep at night.....

6. Cubans dont necessarily see Mexicans, Aztecas, Latinas, etc. as on the same
page. Just something from personal experience. I wonder how far it goes

7. Same here
Been in Miami for about 7 years and I was so surprised to find a lot of racists Cubans who project their dislikes towards blacks as well as different Latin cultures. Especially in Miami were within the Latin population there is a lot of diversity where as elsewhere in the country a majority of Latins are probably either Mexican decent or Puerto Rican decent. I've heard racial terms used more in Miami where there is a lot of diversity then back home in 98% white Maine.

4. But they plan to take care of that through voter-suppression laws.
They won't care about the demographics of those who will have high barriers to voting.

5. (In concert with crappy, private voting machines with proprietary software)
NOW is the time to start investigating the state by state status of the mechanics of The Vote.
