Lived in Atl for a while, Luckovich was the only person that kept me reading that dinner rag known as the AJC. Truly a funny, and mostly fair, cartoonist.

4. as with George W. Bush, they put forth their candidates with the lowest expectations
of credibility or even just plain ability ...

and thus, when their candidate is able to cross the room without breaking several bones in the process, the media goes "Wow! Look at what he/she accomplished!"

And Dems/Libs put forth the best and most accomplished candidate, and the merest stumble is met with media attacks of "Hey, look at what a joke he/she is! You expect this person to run the country???"

7. George W. never had to run against a sitting President.
If he'd had to run against Bill Clinton in 2000 he'd have gotten curbstomped into the pavement.
