How do I get the DCCC from predictive dialing me every morning? |
|
You know, you answer the phone and no one is there. Or they answer 5 seconds later. I'm really getting tired of it. They do it before 9:00 am when I'm trying to get dressed for work. All I know how to do is yell at them and tell them to quit calling me. The no-call lists don't apply to political calls. I quit giving money to the DCCC years ago when I realized they weren't giving money to any of my Democratic house candidates.

I use caller id. If a computer answers, or dead space silence indicating a call center, I just hang up. The phone I pay for is for MY convenience, not theirs.

3. I use answering machine, exclusively. |
|
After 4 rings, the machine picks up, and people I WANT to talk to know to identify themselves, then I can pick up. robocalls and etc simply hang up. We have TONS of robocalls in this area.
Then again, I am pretty anti-social.

I want to get them to stop calling me. Who do I talk to?
Caller ID costs extra and none of my phones have a readout. The best way to avoid unwanted calls is to have the phone company force them to dial an extra 1 after a message that I don't take solicitations. But it is even more expensive.

2. i solved the same problem |
|
by lifting the receiver and dropping it back down....every time
they called....after awhile(3 weeks maybe) the calls stopped.
But then they started mailing me crap so i sent them back empty
envelopes that were prepaid....they finally got the message.
Good luck !

5. Have you told them when they've called to never call you again? |
|
The national do-not-call list may not apply to political calls. But personally telling them that repeated calls will guarantee that you will never send them any money again may encourage them to take you out of their dialing database.

6. Just post your phone number here and hope someone sees it and passes word along |
|
I'm kidding.
I use a telezapper that requires at least a phone number to be displayed before a call gets through. Of course the DCCC may not mind because I still get the occasional call, but it's better than the people "who monitor my credit cards" calls. Non-profits are exempt from the do not call list so that won't help either.
It's possible that asking them to remove your name from the list may help, as when I did phone banking we had a check box for that, but I think the most effective means may be to tell them you're deceased. We checked those names off the list completely to avoid future calls. Most certainly, it ends the current call immediately so you don't have to say no. Especially if you start sobbing. Again, I know this from experience. LOL

I've been getting more unsolicited calls so will likely do it again.

12. pick up the phone and then immediately hang it up |
|
Say nothing.
I love caller ID for this very reason:
unknown name/unknown number gets that treatment repeated calls from phone numbers I don't recognize get that treatment toll free numbers, especially early in the morning, get that treatment private name/private number goes to voicemail where a real friend (or someone known to me) will identify him/herself or it gets that treatment
I have also picked up the receiver and placed it by the TV or radio with the volume turned up
But I say NOTHING.
After a while they all stop.
