Just sayin... It won't hurt me much. I'm still fairly young, no debt, money saved up and working in a great industry. My life is not so much dependent on the electoral whims of "real progressives". God, if this keeps up, it's really gonna hurt some people. Well, I guess they can eat and live under the Activist Left's Principles.

2. dont jinx it
You think you have it good until someone contracts one of those million dollar illness. But on the topic, if we sit still while Obama drifts rightward, the democratic party center would be at the tea baggers spot in a decade and then Newt type politician would be running as a centrist democrat

22. Ok. So a daily barrage of anti-Obama commentary and constant threatening to Primary the guy
Edited on Wed Mar-30-11 11:25 AM by cottonseed
is going to protect us from the tea baggers? Sorry, but I just can't connect the two. Honestly, the left has gotten run over on everything the last 30 years. The only thing they've really succeeded at is helping Democrats lose.

23. I just made that up. It just seems to me the constant degredation of Obama on this site...
seems like activism to me. It seems like actual hard work getting up every morning to tear the guy a new one on every fucking subject imaginable. Really, either it's a handful of miserable malcontents, or it's actual activism. That's where the term came from.

11. In spite of the numerous DUers who claim there is a big difference between the two parties,
Edited on Tue Mar-29-11 05:42 PM by CrispyQ
millions & millions of citizens don't see enough difference to get out & vote. We must mobilize these people. I know we're up against big money, electronic voting & a compromised media, but we need to engage the non-voters. It's the only way I see to try to change the system, within the system. And if that doesn't work, we're fucked.

on edit: I should add that we are not going to get these folks engaged with the current dem party.

8. with all due respect
I find this post to be rather odd. It seems to be saying, "I don't really care about what happens because my life is wonderful, but you poor mutherfuckers are going to suffer for having the nerve to criticize Obama."

I mean, come on. WITH ALL DUE RESPECT, I am certainly not trying to pick an argument with anyone here. I appreciate the fact that you feel strongly in your defense of Obama...but that is a strange manifestation of your thoughts.

Sometimes I strongly agree with Obama, sometimes I strongly disagree. Ultimately, I am a Democrat who supports the Party...and I assume the same thing can be said about most people here.

I find it quite disturbing that because people have the NERVE to express their disagreement or dissatisfaction with Obama, that others resort to trying to marginalize them with posts such as this. This seems to me another attempt (as subtle as it may be!) to try and silence people, or accuse them of not being good Democrats...or...honestly I'm not sure what. I do know I don't like the tenor of it and I don't think it leads to anything positive.

I'm certainly not going to tell other people how they should express themselves. But if your point is that criticizing Obama hurts us in the long run...then why not just directly come out and say that...then perhaps we could have a reasonable discussion about a legitimate concern.

got us Bush II, and some seem intent on going down that bad road again. Oh well, like you said, some of us are pretty well set, and had the foresight to choose a recession proof career.

You have to have SOME principles other than blind partisanship, or no progress will ever be made.

Along with telling yourself it will all somehow be worth it if that happens.
