Is this right? I don't think so, but it might solve the matter.

He says he knows what he is doing and he will persist in it no matter what.

Is it wrong not to protect a citizen who willfully incites violence upon others and himself?

Well, that's an issue. As a libreral and progressive, I'd protect him, but I can surely understand no doing so.

2. I'd not post addresses, but the phone numbers are legit.
We're not trying to incite violence against him, after all.

Unlike him, I'd feel terrible to have any part in others' misfortune.

5. Yes, I understand. But knowing there's a price on his head, makes
publication morally problematic.

7. The real answer? Communication. Beginning with the President and Sectretary of State
to the effect that Terry Jones does not represent the feeling of the vast majority of Americans toward Islam.

Perhaps a resolution by the House to show the message is bi-partisan.

Public statements explaining he is disturbed, a fringe minority, confused, the leader of but few, etc.

13. They are too busy running investigation of radical Islam right here in the US.
The last thing they will do is chastise some one for burning a Koran. Cheer him sure, chastise him, never.

15. Then the rest of us, including independents, will know them.
I say try to pass a resolution condemning the wanton destruction of religious items, to the effect that the United States not only does not condone but condemns such destruction.

If they won't sign off on that, then the extend of their non-American feelings will turn many Americans off.

10. EQUAL protection
Give him the same amount of protection (in the form of police patrols, etc.) as everyone else in Gainesville.

No special patrols. No parking a cruiser outside of his church and home 'round the clock. Just the same amount of protection that Joe Sixpack gets even though Joe's not a moron who intentionally incites riots halfway around the world.

I think that's plenty fair. Jones takes his chances just like anyone else. What he chooses to bring upon himself, well, that's his problem. Hire out some guys from Xe, Terry, if you want more protection than the neighbors get.

18. Why? How much protection do you or I have?
I got a police force who would do a professional job of drawing a chalk mark around my corpse.

If Terry Jones wants to come to Dearborn, MI, to put Mohammed on trial, let him. The police have doughnut shops to patrol.

Mr Jones would be in no danger, even without protection. There'll be so many news crews surrounding him that any potential assassin would be shuffled over to the snack table.
