Imagine Being 80 and Owing 40K in Health Costs Under Republican Paul Ryan's Insane, Randian Plan
"Here's Dean Baker's analysis of Paul Ryan's Medicare plan. It should destroy him and the GOP for the foreseeable future, but the merging of the two parties on these issues is so far along, it's quite possible that there will be little fallout unfortunately. The "pragmatists" will undoubtedly find some way to work out the wrinkles:"

1. The Dems repeatedly legitimize these freaks by "reaching across the aisle"
Call their damned bluff, and make them own their own insanity.

2. Don't be fooled. They go to the extreme to move the debate to the right, not to win insane demands
but this way they'll chisel it so that when we are 80 we'll be paying a good chunk towards our medical care, they don't need to take it ALL away, just some

3. The only reaching across the aisle now should be to
smack the GOP upside the head, repeatedly.

5. Being 80 period, find an Insurance company that will even accept
you and your "coupon".

INSURANCE COMPANIES know they are not going to make
money on OLDER PEOPLE. OLDER PEOPLE GET SICK AND
SICKER. Why do wed think they were canceling on
younger people when they got sick????

This is a sick cruelty joke and proves the absolute
lack of concern the GOP have.

The Medias Latest heart throb, Paul Ryan will
say this is for young people. Wait a minute
Mr. Fitness, there will be no time when there
only young people in this country. There will
always be people in every age group at any given
time.

There are so many things which do not add up in this
plan.

6. I already do
I've accepted that I will work until the day I die. The only question is how much debt I'll leave my daughter.

7. I like your word Randian
I so see more of a difference in the two parties - but I do think that the Democrats have to speak out more on Medicare.

Senator Kerry wrote an interesting LTTE that contained the fact that the changes they made in medicare in the healthcare bill have made it solvent to 2029. Further, he mentioned things done to potentially reduce costs by experimenting with paying not based on the number of tests but the quality of care. (This is something that many doctors have claimed could lead to better medicine at lower costs.) http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=433x647418

The fact that both Medicare and Social Security are not in trouble over the 10 years of the budget means that cutting their cost to reduce the deficit - is more stealing money that people paid for these two programs - to give tax cuts to the wealthy. It means that the non- entitlement part of the government needs more revenue - which likely means reforming the tax code -- and likely raiisning taxes.
