I so see more of a difference in the two parties - but I do think that the Democrats have to speak out more on Medicare.

Senator Kerry wrote an interesting LTTE that contained the fact that the changes they made in medicare in the healthcare bill have made it solvent to 2029. Further, he mentioned things done to potentially reduce costs by experimenting with paying not based on the number of tests but the quality of care. The fact that both Medicare and Social Security are not in trouble over the 10 years of the budget means that cutting their cost to reduce the deficit - is more stealing money that people paid for these two programs - to give tax cuts to the wealthy. It means that the non- entitlement part of the government needs more revenue - which likely means reforming the tax code -- and likely raiisning taxes.
