GOTeaPUKE Epic Fail: Wanted 500 whacko riders, got ZERO, now eating their own. |
|
Edited on Sat Apr-09-11 10:40 PM by RBInMaine
The kind of CENTRISM that will WIN in 2012 won the budget battle, Obama looks like the adult in the room, and their new TeaNut masters of the Grand Old Pukes are now threatening to primary every Republican for "caving." In fact, their heads are exploding all over the blogosphere. None of us here are entirely happy with the cuts, but at the same time there were some appropriate cuts (i.e. defense, some of the foreign spending, etc.) and ALL of the key programs the Pukes wanted to entirely eliminate with their whacko riders were SAVED. Not one of the whacko riders passed because the Dems did a great job framing that part of the debate. The PUKES knew THEY would be blamed for a shutdown BIGTIME. PRAGMATIC CENTRISM won, which to the majority of this nation is a good idea, but to the radical RePUKES who control the GOP base (and their primaries)it is an evil idea.
There is a civil war going on the GOP right now which will worsen. Birthers vs. those saying give that one a rest. TeaPukers like Bachman vs. the remnants of anything close to mainstream conservatism. It is going to be FUN to watch the RePUKE primary. GREAT FUN. In my state, Sen. Olympia Snowe already has a TeaPuke challenger. Oh how sweet it is!

26. When riding into combat, you don't want to see your leader's face. |
|
Of course, for those who want all the attention on themselves, this is troubling.

14. I doubt this will "win in 2012" |
|
The "independents" that Obama is so concerned about getting the votes of won't care that the budget has been cut when they're in the voting booth. They will care about the poor economy and continued joblessness.

I don't know where you are getting info that "none" of them passed. No local or federal money is allowed for abortions in DC and money for school vouchers is allowed in DC. Why do you think the DC mayor got arrested today protesting? Because nothing passed? BTW Defense did not get cut. Defense budget is higher for this year than last.

21. It's not the "Defense Budget", it's the "Military Budget". Framing is everything. |
|
When you say "Defense", people think it's about protecting ourselves from imminent harm.
But it's not that.
It's our "Military" that we're spending so much money on. Much of it is for offensive capabilities so that we can invade, attack, and occupy other countries.
When we call it "Military", we can now think about it without automatically defending it.

30. The Defense Department got its name after WW II |
|
From the time of the Revolution until just after WW II it was called the War Department. They changed the name because it was much easier to get money from Congress for "Defense" instead of "War". The name should be changed back to its more accurate title.

|
Is there any link showing that DC government go spending money on abortions? Because the Hyde amendment already stopped federal spending on abortions---and I think this would include local government abortions as well. Is there something more clear on that? Link please.
