About that Vacuum that's forming...
Edited on Wed Dec-16-09 08:25 PM by Kurt_and_Hunter
If you haven't read Allentown Jake's post "A Vacuum is Forming," it's a good 'un.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x7236293

When we are unpopular but they are even more unpopular we may feel secure. But a political vacuum resolves itself dramatically. When people feel alienated from the entire political framework they can do any... crazy... thing...

And since we hold all the power (sic) we are the ones on the hot-seat.

Vacuum-formation sightings aplenty in the new NBC/WSJ Poll:

In addition to Obama’s job approval rating at 47 percent, fewer than four in 10 say they are confident he has the right set of goals and policies, which is down 15 points since his election. And only one-third have confidence the president has the right goals and priorities to improve the economy, down 13 points since June.

The entire Republican Party, moreover, continues to maintain a net-negative favorable/unfavorable rating, 28 percent to 43 percent.

But, for the first time in more than two years, the Democratic Party also now holds a net-negative rating, 35 percent to 45 percent.

By comparison, the conservative libertarian-leaning Tea Party movement has a net-positive 41 percent to 23 percent score in the poll.

7. Have no idea why someone would unrec this. Its just factual information.
Terrifying factual information, but factual nonetheless.

What this tells me is that unless something changes and soon, we are headed for a far right government that has total idiots as its base. History repeats itself. The left cannot get its act together and the far right happily takes advantage.

14. And getting few takers, if I recall correctly
Was there a story on TV about Steele getting rebuffed by tea-baggers?

Ha! Probably the only group of people in the country who think of Steele as black.

16. Matters not
The tea Partiers are fringe conspiracy theorists, nothing more. They arent a popular movement, just the latest loud incarnation of the lunatic fringe.
