Strange, since I was just watching MSNBC and the consensus has been generally very positive. :(

5. It's not "strange." These click-bye pseudo-polls are utterly meaningless. |
|
If a so-called poll can be either "freeped" or "DU'ed" it tells us absolutely nothing about public opinion or about anything else, except that it's been either freeped or DU'ed. This one has been freeped. So what.

11. Yeah, but nobody pays attention to MSNBC except for those of us who are |
|
interested in politics. Most people I know wouldn't know the web address or how to find it on their TV remote. Don't worry.

12. During the presidential debate season in 2004, we'd all rush to DU afterwords to take part in polls. |
|
We had big ones, local ones, any poll that anybody knew about. But I took a look at Free Republic on one of those nights and discovered that they had stolen our very list! I was really upset. :( I know that polls don't mean a whole lot, but it's still nice to win... :hi:

13. Agree I like to win, too -- but it's more important that we win where it matters, |

14. I know, pick your battles. ;) |

Obviously, winning in some poll doesn't really mean a lot, but if folks see it, it could influence them. My friend who is in state government said that everybody wants to vote for the winner and that's why the bumper stickers and lawn signs and GOTV calls mean a lot. She said that if they see a candidate's name enough times, they'll assume s/he's the winner and vote for him/her. :hi:

15. Well, you present a good argument, and your friend is right. |
|
I remember hearing jokes about Biden when he was accused of plagiarism, and I asked my friend "who's Joe Biden?" He said, 'some joker who always steals other people's material and pretends it's his own.'
So when he entered the fray for the Presidential run, I thought "man, is that guy still kicking around?" and immediately discounted him. When I began to pay attention, he was the one I ended up supporting! So yeah, what people say and "impressions" DO make a difference! :hi:
