My conclusion on the budget deal
Boehner was bluffing about shutting down the government, but expected the face-saving facade of cuts to last longer than it did (hopefully until after the vote was forgotten). Reid and Obama correctly read that he would take accounting gimmicks as if they were actual cuts, but managed to conveniently leak the real numbers just in time to humiliate Boehner.

A prediction: he will be primaried next year, hard. He can probably win, but it will be very ugly. If you think DU complains loudly about Obama caving, check out any conservative forum over the past year or so: we're amateurs at whining in comparison. Boehner had to go to Democrats for votes today. I'm not convinced he can get the base back after that.

1. Check this out. Here are some links regarding the REAL numbers
The GOP promise was:
Cut government spending to pre-stimulus, pre-bailout levels
Will "roll back government spending to pre-stimulus, pre-bailout levels, saving at least $100 billion in the first year alone."

Note: $352 Million (with a 'M') is no where close to $100 Billion (with a 'B')

Check this out! The GOP actually FAILED to get the spending cuts for 'this year' that they promised - PROMISE BROKEN!

Forget $38B: Budget only cuts $352 million this year

2. I cannot help but wonder what the people who voted for that new
crop of GOPers are thinking. I am talking about
the ordinary citizens. I can remember the first
Tea Party gathering. rally, whatever and all those
signs about-- Keep your hands off my Medicare, or
Do not mess with my SS. Or do they do one thing
here and not tell the Folks back home. Some of
the Teabaggers might just be in trouble by the
time they want to primary Boehner.

This party (Republican) has me really confused.
You have these guys with green eyeshades and
a machetti. When are the rank and file going
to realize what is being done to them???
