Seems like passing HC reform with price controls being passed via reconciliation might be the way we get what we want here.

I'm still holding out, it aint easy though...

Your take?

1. Can state insurance commissioners cap the insurance co's price increases ?
Mandate minus price controls may increase healthcare costs
http://articles.latimes.com/2009/sep/24/nation/na-healthcare-affordability24

"In the drive to bring health coverage to almost every American, lawmakers have largely rejected restrictions on how much insurers can charge, sparking fears that consumers will continue to face the skyrocketing premium increases of recent years.

The legislators' reluctance to control premium costs comes despite the fact that they intend to require virtually all Americans to get health insurance, an unprecedented mandate -- long sought by insurance companies -- that would mark the first time the federal government has compelled consumers to buy a single industry's product, effectively creating a captive market.

"We are about to force at least 30 million people into an insurance market where the sharks are circling," said California Lt. Gov. John Garamendi, a Democrat who served as the state's insurance commissioner for eight years. "Without effective protections, they will be eaten alive."

10. That's what I was thinking. Give him one more chance to not filibuster healthcare reform, then give
him the boot and strip him of the chairmanship. In a generous act of bipartisanship, President Obama and the Democratic Party could give the Republicans the gift of Lieberman.

14. Can we do that?
Its my understanding that changing the chairmanships takes a senate vote to do a reorganization. And that that vote would be subject to fillibuster.

If that is true, I'm pretty sure if we can't get him to vote for health care, we cant get him to vote to allow a vote to strip his chairmanships.

6. +1, those assigning fault at Obamas feet NEVER EVER offer anything more practical than threats...
..etc for someone who doesn't have to answer to the public in any way.

It's getting silly

12. Lieberman will be in the 4th year of his 6 year term in January 2010
I don't believe the Senate Democrats can do much until the 112th Congress which begins January 3, 2011.

This is the time that there will be new Senators elected (1/3 are elected every 2 years) and the need to make committee assignments.
