I needed a little red meat, thanks for providing it for me. Please do it some more. I liked it...a LOT!

8. Because we'd hear the MSM and the yammering heads going on ad nauseum about
whether he was "embarrassed" (yes, they asked that about THIS recording), or why he's being so antagonistic toward the Republicans.

:puke:

Free political advertising! Good fiscal responsibility, right there.

9. I wouldn't be surprised.
That way, he's not being attacked by the MSM for being antagonistic on the record, yet it gets airtime because it wasn't 'supposed' to be for public consumption and the MSM loves that sort of stuff.

3. the man should talk like this IN PUBLIC every day. stand up for something besides bipartisanship.
That's the biggest complaint against him in our little voting bloc. Defend himself and democratic values IN PUBLIC and take charge of the discussions. Then back up his promises with action

4. "Apparently, when President Obama is speaking privately to supporters...
From the OP:

<...>

In what he presumably thought was a private conversation Thursday's night, President Obama candidly told campaign donors that the GOP tried to "sneak" its plan to kill his signature health care law in a recent budget proposal.

<...>

President Obama: "let’s not try to sneak political agendas into a budget debate" (March 15 press conference)

To quote Steve Benen: "Apparently, when President Obama is speaking privately to supporters, and he doesn't think anyone else is listening, he says pretty much the same things he says in public."

5. I'm with you. I want to hear more of this kind of talk.
I just wish that he didn't do it only behind closed doors.

12. I agree, why doesn't he have this tone all of the time?
I think he'd be much more successful at winning over popular opinion if he just called out the Rethugs like this more often.

16. Sounds like people are more concerned about feeling emotionally
satisfied than the President speaking in a prudent way.

Sure he could say things we'd love to hear, but he'd take a beating for it in the media that could hurt.

That's why those types of things are left to the Graysons of the world. The VP can usually speak more strongly, too.
