The Rethug agenda is to redistribute wealth from the vast majority
Edited on Sat Apr-16-11 12:33 AM by pnwmom
of Americans to the one percent at the top; and they're trying to accomplish this, once again, with even more tax cuts. The Bush tax cuts on the wealthy weren't enough for the these folks; led by Ryan, they want to reduce the highest marginal rate to only 25%.

They throw up a lot of smoke and mirrors, accusing the Dems of trying to redistribute wealth -- to cover up the fact that they're doing exactly the same thing. They're all about the rich getting richer, at the expense of everyone else.

One way or another, the tax code will affect how wealth is distributed in this country. But don't let them get away with the argument that it's only the Dems who want to redistribute; that's exactly what they're trying to accomplish with every one of their tax bills.

1. Bingo ...
I have thrown this at my RW acquaintances for years ... Why haven't any Democrats in power mentioned it ?

I swear - This band of nincompoops have a serious problem forming a winning argument ...

YEAH there is wealth redistribution now ... from the POOR to the RICH ...

YEAH there is CLASS WAR .... by the RICH against the POOR ....

Geeez .... WAKE UP DEMOCRATS !

2. Their default position seems to be that the very wealthy
are entitled to own 100% of everything. Anything less than that means there has been a "redistribution of wealth." Because who, besides the wealthy, should be allowed to own the country's wealth? No one, of course.

:sarcasm:

7. I have thought about that question
But anything of value has been made by human hands, or by machines that were made by human hands ...

It is NOT yer Donald Trump on his hands and knees fixing a machine or lovingly crafting a piece of furniture - It is the WORKER who 'makes things' ...

It started with a partnership : Capital proving material and workers providing labor, but then capital takes the lions share because he 'invested' ....

They invested, and then stole the investment of the worker who labored ... That is where the theft begins ...

and that is where it ends too - Decent wages ARE the return on labor's investment ... yet they get skimmed by RICH BASTARDS who haven't made a decent thing in their whole life ...

3. You know the other way to distribute your wealth?
Spend on things you want but don't need.

I find it interesting our educational system is so deficient in teaching kids how to budget, how to build wealth, how to save for retirement, how to protect yourself from the vagarities of fate and on and on.

I've come to the conclusion that we need people to spend without restraint to keep our economy going so that will never be a big part of the curriculum In the end we have people who learned how to build wealth and those who didn't.

4. It hasn't always been that way.
I remember in fifth grade we were taught how to balance a checkbook, with checks that we could use in a class "store." Now they're just training kids to take tests.

5. They have been doing this for years. Cut taxes, then cut
beneifits. Why do you think Medicare has gotten
so weakened over the years?

Medicare used to be a stand alone program with close
to full benefits.

It has been gutted over the years so now must buy Nedugap
Insurance to use along with Medicare.

9. What I'm saying is that we shouldn't allow them to
make the claim that we're pushing for a redistribution of wealth, as if the distribution that favors them is the original one or the natural one.

We ought to be fighting back with the argument that they're the ones who've been redistributing the country's wealth with all of their tax cuts.

10. You can't change tax law fast enough to catch the money - never have and never will
The advantage of a low tax rate is less avoidance of taxes. When tax rates are low, there is not as much an incentive for people to use shelters, fast accountants, tax games, and other ways, including MOVING to another country.
