An idea on something constructive we can do now on Health Care Reform
My assumption at this point is that we are going to get some sort of bill from the Senate shortly, and it is going to be awful. Fine.

That is still not the end of it. There will then be a House version and a Senate version. The differences will need to be hammered out in conference.

My suggestion is that we all call our congresspeople and senators and ask them in conference to fight for a removal of the stupak amendment, and the inclusion of the public option and/or the medicare at 55+ provision.

Let's not assume that a bad senate bill means it is over.

5. Yvonne/Grantcart/Cha/Clio - Thanks! Of course, someone had to UnRec and not post why
I understand an UnRec when someone posts an opinion that is somewhat controversial, but I dont really see the controversy in what I suggest.

Anyway, thanks for the support.

7. K&R for a calm and rational idea. Fighting until the end is how to do it, anything less and
you don't have much ground to stand on with complaints against the result.

8. BTW, if you are a member of MoveOn, my understanding is they will be holding rallies for this very
thing in front of the offices of Democratic Congresspeople.

9. I think dems could pass a single payer bill this week if they wanted to
I think the Dem senators won't get too much help in their next elections if they don't listen to the party members

18. I've been calling for a few months.
On several different areas concerning the health care bill. But one of my senators is Lieberman, so not too sure how much help it's been.

19. Ugh.
We need to call that nice lady who lived outside the WH for the duration of the Bush admin. to protest the war and have her do the same to Lieberman's office.
