Bin Laden's 1996 Assassination Attempt on B. Clinton's Life
I never heard of this until today by watching something on Cspan about the Ken Starr prosecution of Clinton. Is this true or is it something used to sell books?

I thought I kept up with the news. Or maybe the MSM thought it would prejudice the prosecution of Clinton. I dunno?

There is more at the link:

BILL CLINTON came within minutes of being killed by Osama bin Laden in 1996 when a bomb was placed under a bridge during a trip to the Philippines, according to a new book.

The assassination was foiled when the Secret Service picked up coded radio messages using the words ''bridge'' and ''wedding'' - a terrorist's code word for assassination - just as Mr Clinton was on his way to a meeting.

Mr Clinton's route was diverted away from a bridge, which was later found to have been planted with explosives.

An investigation into the plot ''revealed that it had been masterminded by a Saudi terrorist living in Afghanistan - a man named Osama bin Laden''.

just trying to help out Kenneth Starr, that's all. No wonder the republicans were so against Clinton doing anything against bin Laden and the Taliban.

3. I had heard of it before, but didn't know the details.
I'm glad that the plot was stopped in time. Even if I didn't like Bill, which I do, I wouldn't wish any harm on any president. The Kennedy assassination was traumatic enough for the nation, we sure as heck don't need another one.

4. I just read about that in the Atlantic article on the Secret Service.
Which was a fascinating piece. Damn, those guys are well armed.
