15. You know that it won't. They have moved on to how could he possibly have gotten into Harvard law
for which the White House will then spend countless hours collecting his college records. It goes on and on and on because the MEdia wants it.

I disagree with them doing this. It just gives MSNBComcast credence as the new Trump Network. Every time they say his name, it's $, whether Tweety or Lawrence are "blasting him" or Uncle Pat is parroting him. They should have ignored it, IMHO. But I suppose Chuckie T or Smiley Savannah would have stood up at a press conference and asked about the Donald. (maybe they already have, I don't pay much attention to them)

56. Yes - but who ever thought that they would question a birth certificate
The point is to raise doubts - even when there is no reasonable doubt.

Since the media let them get away with challenging unambiguous official documentation in 2004, they were emboldened to even more chutzpah in 2008.

Do you think they would accept a Harvard transcript - or his undergrad Columbia University one? Even if he has straight As on both - they will likely argue that he didn't really deserve them. I would have said it was paranoia if I read this 10 years ago, but I suspect that we will be hearing from "fellow students" saying that they knew from his class participation, tests, papers that they saw that he didn't really earn the A he was given. (As in 2004, they will not even have to prove that they took a class with him - or even were in the college at the same time.)

4. This is the worst thing he could have done.
It won't stop there. Trump has already started the freaks wanting to know about his grades at University and how he became head of the Harvard Law review. By doing this it's giving into the crazies.

I recognize why he did it, but to do this---they will find each and EVERY way to de-legitimize him. That was the point of this from the beginning and it will continue down this path.

Holy crap. If this is true, I have no idea if it's a good thing or not.

On one hand, if the document is very clearly real and true and accurate and genuine etc., issue closed and Trump and the other birthers look like fools.

On the other hand, can't Trump and all the other Birthers now say "HAHAHAHA, Mr. Hope and Change is scared of the likes of us!" Also, doesn't this give the conspiracy nuts a brand new document to find "problems" with?

On Edit: Holy Crap, it's true. All over the AP.

didn't you know that Obama and his administration has developed a time machine (akin to the "wayback machine") and has sent an operative back to Obama's date of birth and secretly inserted Obama's information into the Hawaiian public records department?

I wonder if the Birther's have sent their version of "Kyle Reese" back to intercept the Time Agent to prevent this from happening. Has anyone checked the Honolulu papers for a strange battle between 2 men using, as yet, unidentified weapons?

Some people don't have the baby's name chosen immediately -- they expected a boy and got a girl, they unexpectedly had twins, the parents are fighting over who to name it after, whatever.

When my older son was born, we had his first name settled but not his middle name and the hospital started threatening that we couldn't take him home until we had a full name for him. We were like, are you going to hold our kid hostage until we name him to your satisfaction?

They will only ask for more. They will not believe what is put before their very eyes.

It makes me SICK that we have come to this. And it is because he is a black man - this is completely racist and sick. They have NEVER done this to another President.

3) Social security records
4) Passport records

I don't like it either, but at least I understand it and I don't understand what "respect" has to do with anything when people are lynching the memory of his mother, his father, and who the fuck he is.

58. total BS
Short form is the only form issued by Hawaii. It's the official form and would've had to have been acceptable, per the US constitution full faith and credit clause.

You're right of course. In the long run whether Obama has my respect or not doesn't t matter. What I do know is that I'm not alone in viewing him as a wimp who doesn't fight for anything. He gave in to those racists. And it's not going to do him a bit of good because they won't believe it. Or they will move onto some other issue, continually distracting him and obfuscating the real issues.

85. No. You are wrong.
The official BC for the state of hawaii is the short form certificate, per Hawaii. They have a long form, but the short form is what is used for passports, drivers licenses etc. The long form is not used. Thus other states with birther laws would have been forced to accept the short form for Hawaii purposes of determining Obama's legitimacy to run for President, which is my point.

88. Yes, I know.
My point to vaberalla was that Obama releasing the long form BC now, has nothing to do with the birther election laws that are popping up all over the country. Even if those laws pass, Obama would satisfy them simply by showing his short form birth certificate (which he's already released). Any state challenging the validity of the short form or requiring a long form would be in violation of Article IV Section 1 of the Constitution.

So it seems like you and I on this.

haha, nice try, though. I'm sure next time Pres. Obama does something you disagree with (like breathe), you'll come crying to us how you've lost all respect for him.

Give me a fucking break. Your schtick is worse than the birthers.

but I'm not going to question his motivations here.

67. The reasons he gave at his press conference should be good enough.
It ate up the whole new cycle last week while he wanted the country to have a national discussion on the budget. That was basically his reason and its a sound one.

72. The fact that you think "he didn't even get involved in the budget issue until late"
is proof that he is 100% correct in his assessment that this BS is eating into the news cycle too much. Thats because what you just said is dead wrong. He has been involved in the recent budget issue since day 1.

73. Yeah maybe so but the there were other things going on last week besides this nonsense.
If anything this shows that Obama's team needs to work on their messaging and talking points. This strikes me as a reaction instead of a well calculated long term plan for handling the media.

74. There can be no well calculated long term plan for handling the media.
Thats the price of a free country. One thats well worth it but one thats also a pain in the ass. The media will do what it damn well feels like doing. Theres no stopping that.

76. That's not neccessarily true bush handled them pretty well.
He had message and stayed on it while using members of his administration as surrogates. Obama is basically his own surrogate and he reacts to the media instead of shaping the narrative.

78. Bush didn't handle them. They chose to cooperate.
The media is largely right wing, if not the pundits themselves, then the companies behind them for sure. Bush deserves no credit for "handling the media". He didn't have to try very hard.

I don't know if you heard his statement, but he made it clear that he has "better things to do". If these fools want to keep going on about it, let them and let the MSM humor them, but the WH and the President are done with this.

92. "it's not going to make this birther nonsense go away" - That's a good thing,
because this makes them look even crazier now that they can't claim he "hasn't released his birth certificate."

Now they'll have to PROVE the BC is fake, rather than just stand around and say, "See...he hasn't released it!"

93. What he had to gain from it is that the media didn't want to let him break into their programming
on a number of serious issues, but would let him do so in regards to the birth certificate controversy.

Which means it was hindering him to actually inform the public et al about serious matters, by doing this he forces the media to drop it for the most part as headline news stuff and makes it easier for him to get face time for serious topics. In my eyes this had more to do with getting the media to stop focusing so much on the insanity rather then 'caving' to the nutcase birthers

81. OK Mr Trump the ball's in your court.
Where's the shocking evidence your gum shoes have been turning up in Hawaii? Time to put up or STFU. The same goes for all the other idiots that have been running their mouths on this bogus "issue". Prove it. Come up with one piece of hard physical evidence. Not just hear-say or the lunatic ravings of amateur sleuths on the internet.

Something? Anything? We're waiting.

87. Now it's up to The Donald to prove his hair isn't a comb-over.
If he doesn't produce notarized documentation from either the person who does his hair or Industrial Light and Magic (who I suspect is really responsible), I refuse to believe he's anything other than bald and fakin' it.

Also, I call for Orly Taitz to submit to testing immediately to prove she's actually a human being. This is to include DNA testing and all examinations necessary to conclusively prove that she's not, say, a cabbage or a potato or a factory-second T-1000.

While it's not necessary, it'd be nice if she'd consent to interviews with an actual clergyman (not one of those TBS trash or the Rick Warren ilk, but someone who actually went to a real seminary) to investigate the possiblility that she might be entirely soulless, if not heartless.

If the White House can produce documentation that nobody else would have to (because, as my co-workers would say, "he black"), then the above should be easy for them.

And if you all think that this will end the debate, which is an animating thing for some and a source of a prosperous living for others, then you're a naive idiot.
