Oops. Now that Obama has produced his long form birth certificate, what will |
|
be the affect those states that have been busily passing legislation to try to keep him off the ballot?

2. Well, the long-form document he put out isn't the right document to show. The document he presented |
|
years ago is the appropriate form to use as a Hawaiian birth certificate. It is what people in Hawaii use for all legal purposes. The proper title of a Hawaiian birth certificate is a "Certification of Live Birth." The president provided that a long time ago.
The original birth certificate he showed today--which, ironically, carries the proper title "Certificate of Live Birth"--isn't even allowed for official purposes anymore. In fact, it would not be appropriate for any state to accept it as proof of his birth, since Hawaii has said that only the short-form "Certification of Live Birth" is allowed for official usage.
Not that any of this matters. If some Republican Secretary of State really wants to lie, and claim that he doesn't have genuine proof of his birth, then they will find a justification to do so. At which point it will go to the courts and President Obama will be quickly restored to the ballot.
