Never mind the booing, Ryan says constituents 'overwhelmingly supportive' of budget

by Joan McCarter

Bloomberg Television interview Rep. Paul Ryan today about his budget and tax plan, and the reception it's been getting in town hall meetings.

<...>

In a nutshell:

Paul Ryan on the reception he is getting from constituents:

"The crowds are overwhelming supportive. I'm very excited."

Roll tape.

<...>

RYAN: I agree with the first — I totally agree with that sentiment. First of all the tax system we have is a corrupt system it doesn’t work. It benefits a handful of people and businesses at the expense of everybody else. What I would say is let’s get rid of the tax shelters that let’s some pay get away with paying no taxes –

CONSTITUENT: Do it first! (cheers from audience)

RYAN: Come on, it’s not worth the peanut gallery. Let’s clean up the tax code and lower our tax rates. The reason why I say, the president’s commission said the same thing, we’re taxing our businesses our employers, a lot more than our competitors are taxing theirs –

(Audience boos, hisses)

CONSTITUENT: LIAR!

CONSTITUENT: He’s lying!

On edit, the booing in the vido at the above link is not an isolated incident.

Krugman: Flim Flammed

3. According to today's USA Today most are
supporting Ryan's budget, well except for a few left wing radicals that come to disrupt the town-halls.

4. Then USA Today is living in a dream world.
On the other hand I have no doubt that low info voters who are so uninformed that they buy the Republican spin about "improving and saving Medicare" imagine that they do approve of it.

7. They do in the world of USA Today and Paul Ryan
The story today said Ryan has had mostly positive response from his town-halls. They quoted a Gallop poll I think Wednesday that said people supported Ryan's plan over Obama's. They also had a Gallop poll that Americans trust the Republicans more on the economy than the Democrats.
