Do we even need Republicans?
Edited on Thu Dec-17-09 12:41 PM by dave29
Hear me out. This is not a thread bashing our party.

As much as I am torn right now and have been in a rage/calm roller-coaster ride over HCR in particular... it has occurred to me how much I love politics. I like being able to "fight" in my own party to work towards Democratic ideals. Sometimes we find a way to work together and move things forward. Sometimes we call each other a lot of names. But we usually find a way to like each other at the end of the day, until the next dust up. Of course it is not as simple as that -- but that has been my general experience.

Republicans in the meantime are a unified block of neanderthal nose pickers, doing everything they can to halt intelligent discussion of anything. And they are pretty good at that.

So my suggestion is this. Lets bump as many of those neanderthals (and Lieberboy) from Congress next chance we get, and keep the whole fight in family. Maybe we'll wind up getting more done.

Maybe not, but I'm willing to give it a try :)

1. well . . . I would say we need to worry about keeping close to the same numbers
say what you might about the GOP - but they are gaining the upper hand. And we are not helping our cause by bashing some of our most visible and best known members.

Thinking of them as "neanderthal nose pickers" will just help their cause. It is much better to stick to the issues. Offer solutions. Spread the word about how the solutions will help the middle class. We need to be the adults in this battle. Problem solvers.

2. I'd rather keep the Republicans and fight them as a real party that stands for something

3. I have to agree with that.
I love having the Republicans as a minority party, I just wish the Democrats acted more like a majority party.
