President Obama versus the liberals by Dana Milbank , Washington Post

Obama vs. the liberals: Pass the tea to the left
By Dana Milbank
December 17, 2009

Tea parties -- they aren't just for conservatives anymore.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), in a news conference Wednesday, declares that she won't ask House members to support Obama's Afghanistan troop increase in a January vote. "The president's going to have to make his case," she says, calling it a "vote of conscience."

About the same time, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) holds a news conference to denounce Obama's renomination of Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke. "When the people voted for change in 2008," he says, "they did not vote to have one of the key architects of the Bush economy be reappointed."

Howard Dean goes on the radio and says of the Senate health-care bill, which Obama is fighting mightily to pass: "The best thing to do right now is kill the Senate bill."

MoveOn.org calls a protest outside the White House to demand that "the president to stand up to Joe Lieberman and fight for the health care reform principles he campaigned on."

Rep. Alan Grayson (D-Fla.), who gained fame by saying Republicans think Americans should "die quickly," holds a news conference to denounce Obama's Afghanistan policy and reads a petition on the House floor asking members to vote against sending more troops.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers (D-Mich.), in a series of outbursts, criticizes Obama over Afghanistan, health-care reform and the handling of the Guantanamo Bay prison.

2. Do you always comment on an article you haven't read?
Please read articles before you present us with your opinion on the articles.

And if you decide to write a movie review, please see the film first!

"Move On.org has nothing in common with the Teabaggers"

Geeeeee .... thanks for the heads up. We of course didn't know that! You smart!

5. So the Democrats he quoted were misquoted?

I don't think, so but if you can provide links discrediting his quotes please post them.

The statements of liberal Democrats is what interested me.

They made good points. You don't agree with them?

9. Milbank is famous for cherrypicking quotes in order
to create hyperbole and drama. It reached a fevered peak during the 2004 primaries. Some of us old timers takes what he writes with a healthy dose of skepticism. ;-)

10. You posted an article where Milbank argues that the left has its own teabaggers.
He then goes on to cite Sanders and MoveOn.org as examples of this. That is an idiotic comparison. Milbank is full of bullshit and has been for a long time.

If you post an article from Bill O Reilly or Rush Limbaugh, I'll point out that they are full of bullshit too.

21. I think we ought to hit the streets on our issues like the so-called "teabbaggers"

Why do you think we should stay locked up in our homes instead of hitting the streets on issues like oppoistion to the wars, the need for a massive jobs program, support for a real universal health care program, defense of our civil liberties, openness and transparency in government, etc.,?

Perhaps because so-called Democratic "moderates" and "centrists" want us to STFU?

You want us to STFU too and just go along with whatever the insurance industry, Wall Street and corporate America try to shove down out throats.

Now quit the whining about source of the information .... that's a smokescreen and distraction from your real points.

And that's your fundamental disagreement with liberals who are quoted in the article.

Now be honest .... isn't that really what your complaint is all about?

You hate what they said and wish they would STFU.

22. You either have serious reading comprehension problems or you
Edited on Thu Dec-17-09 10:55 PM by Guy Whitey Corngood
are a disruptor. I can't quite figure it out. Number one fuck these so called centrists or moderates they're nothing but right wingers "in drag". Number 2 I consider myself (and anyone who's read my posts in the last 8 yrs will tell you) somewhere to the left of Bernie Sanders. I've been called a communist so many times for criticizing these sell out Democrats that I've lost count. I supported leftist movements throughout Latin America and the world since I've been able to speak. Now try reading this slowly. This asshole Millbank who has mocked the left his entire career is now comparing us to these deranged teabagging freaks because we refuse to shut up about the constant capitulation to the likes of Lieberman. Baucus, etc. You want to kiss this little media whore's ass because your to dumb to understand what he's saying and you think it suits your purposes. Go right ahead and put yourself right along there with the teabaggers. I've been out on the street protesting bush since before it became fashionable and will do so against the Obama administration when I have to. Think for one second. This guy is making the comparison to discredit the left.

So again try reading things before posting them and try reading before replying 'cause you're looking mighty stupid right now. And no I don't anyone to shut up. I actually want more people to wake up to what's going on whether it's health care, wall street, all of that shit.

And let me give you a little hint. I'm probably one the tiny few who has recommended many of your threads when everybody else is piling on you. You're talking to the wrong guy here. Dana Millbank is still a douche which is why Olberman didn't to have anything to do with him after letting him be part of his show. And no Move On is nothing like teabaggers because they have actually been right on most occasions and can probably spell words in the English language.

But I always mentally dissociate him from the Post because he's good and it's so overwhelmingly tooly, with Broder, Cillizza, Cohen, Milbank, and even Ezra Klein, who's more subtle in his tooliness. Dan Froomkin was another rare good one... was...
