16. The media are not our friends...
There is no objectivity left in the media - they specialize in supporting the right and attacking the left. Its so predictable its impossible to ignore.

it will go back up to the mid fifties. People are frustrated, but they know he didn't create this mess. They need a sign that things are heading in the right direction.

If economy looks good (batter) than before then he, regardless of this heath care fiasco, Afghansitan, or even the fucking Patriot act can all sit and spin.

I guess most Americans really only care about the bottom line.

15. not sure why that is "sad"
doesn't it show that those here have some strong feelings about the issues - and stand by those positions?

Why are you concerned about the polls for an individual. Isn't it all about the issues? Seems to me that it indicates that we want progress on the issues, in a "liberal/progressive" direction. And we are not satisfied when we don't see the progress.

20. I just e-mailed Chuck Todd, the "numbers guy" at MSNBC
Edited on Thu Dec-17-09 01:40 PM by jenmito
to ask what's up with this. I wrote:

Why the silence on the positive polls?

I don't know why MSNBC would do this, but your website linked to the AP/GfK poll and said nothing about it-his approval was up two points to 56%: http://www.ap-gfkpoll.com/pdf/AP-GfK_Poll_Release_1_Topline_12.15.09.pdf

And Obama's approval rating in today's Gallup Tracking Poll is up to 51%: http://www.gallup.com/Home.aspx

Do these polls not follow the desired narrative and that's why they're ignored?

If anyone wants to e-mail him, his address is: Chuck.Todd@nbcuni.com

18. The AP poll in my morning paper, has him at 56% approval!
Approval for the way he is handling the Afganistan war is up to 50% (from 40%).

Pretty good considering all the crap going on right now.

23. Personally i would rather see 30% Approval, 60% Disapproval...
Obama has been a disaster for liberals / progressives. A low approval / high disapproval from his base could wake him up and congress to get back on track. Good numbers only shovel them down the same corporate conservative track.

And the liberals approve more than the moderates.

to say that an approval rating in the 50's makes things okay, then just ignore the deep conversations, because I bet you 90% of DU knows a hell of a lot more about major issues than half of the Congress!
