He may be so busy with places to go and people to see and surrounded by people who make him think he is doing great that he does not know how many people are disgusted with him. He may not even know how much it will cost the average family to buy into this mandatory health insurance he just sounded happy about. I can't remember the numbers from Olberman last night, (I think it was around $9,000 premium for health care for a family making $60,000).

I guess what I am saying is what you say on this site about your disappointment with him might just stay on this site and be seen by the thousands who stroll through but it may not get to the ones that need to hear it. Make that happen. Tell it to the big guy.

Please don't let him be in the dark about what is going on. Email or call. Personally I think calling is best.

So here is the White House numbers.

You can also call or write to the President:

The White House

How many people in his "base" Dean speaks for.

Edited on Thu Dec-17-09 01:38 PM by dflprincess
that's why the WH attacked Dean yesterday.

Contrary to what he told us, he just isn't interested in listening to anyone who disagrees with him.

13. I wonder who un-rec'd this? Someone who doesn't want people communicating
with the president that's for sure. I have used the un'rec feature once. I think some people go around un'rec-ing just because they want us to fail.

Pitiful people.

14. Remember the Bushies?
They supported everything Bush did, no matter what? Obama has them too. (We aren't supposed to point them out here on DU, I guess.)

5. Obama will get the message when his poll numbers continue to drop.
When he sees more and more protesters at his appearances, and when the word gets back that donations to Dem organizations are down. Yet progressive Dems are seeing a bigger influx of money.

That will speak loud and clear to Obama, but nothing else will.

his full message:

WASHINGTON POST

"To be clear, I'm not giving up on health-care reform. The legislation does have some good points, such as expanding Medicaid and permanently increasing the federal government's contribution to it. It invests critical dollars in public health, wellness and prevention programs; extends the life of the Medicare trust fund; and allows young Americans to stay on their parents' health-care plans until they turn 27. Small businesses struggling with rising health-care costs will receive a tax credit, and primary-care physicians will see increases in their Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement rates.

Improvements can still be made in the Senate, and I hope that Senate Democrats will work on this bill as it moves to conference. If lawmakers are interested in ensuring that government affordability credits are spent on health-care benefits rather than insurers' salaries, they need to require state-based exchanges, which act as prudent purchasers and select only the most efficient insurers. Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) offered this amendment during the Finance Committee markup, and Democrats should include it in the final legislation. A stripped-down version of the current bill that included these provisions would be worth passing."

If you like the current LieberCare offering in its present bad state, though, that's certainly your perogative.

10. Actually, I think Obama reads the news and reports and knows exactly what is happening...
I think he is fully aware and responsible for what his administration is doing.

I don't think anybody here likes people like Rahm Emanuel, but no matter what else they think about him, I haven't heard him being accused of being a yes man. He is more likely to be call a gold plated son-of-a-bitch, by his friends.

I don't think the theory that Obama is surround by sycophants is sound. I think the policies Obama has put in place are his own.

11. Well I just got off after waiting about 5 minutes and the guy just wanted to write down
that I was opposed to the bill as it is now and I told him some of the specifics that I learned last night and then he said something like, "well we'll just have to wait and see what happens" BOOM GOES MY HEAD! I said something like "no that has been the problem, he is too passive, he hasn't read the bill and he doesn't' know what it is going to cost the American families. He is getting his information from people listening to the insurance companies and he needs to get his information from experts with no agenda. He might very well cause a problem in the 2010 elections and possible in the 2012 election."

Something like that. My voice was kind of raised by I was not yelling.

The point is if I am only one of a few who calls with specifics of what we are all saying here my point is going to be checked off on a form. But if enough people call and express specific points about the failings of this bill than maybe someone will listen.

I can dream can't I?

15. Obama copied his entire fucking campaign strategy from Howard Dean
and yet he seems to have forgotten what the Dean campaign of 2003-04, and consequently the campaign that put his own ass in the White House was all about in the first goddamn place.

Howard Dean said "I don't have the power, YOU do". Barack echoed that with "Change comes from bottom up, not top down".

Only Dr. Dean is still consistent with his campaign message. President Obama, sadly, is NOT. :evilfrown:

16. I just called
Not an illuminating experience by any means. The person has just been instructed to take notes and to not engage in any real conversation.

Still, I'm glad I called and urge others to do so.

Stay on the line to get to a live person and then call back and press 1 to transfer to the recorded line.

Then send fax and an email!

21. I fear Dean isn't getting the message of how the worst thing to do would be to
kill the bill. Obama is NOT in a bubble. He has an extremely difficult job to do and he's doing it using his OWN brain-unlike Bush did.
