All I want for Christmas is a lean, mean and liberal Democratic Party
Edited on Thu Dec-17-09 04:06 PM by Armstead
Lean, as in get rid of the fat like Ben Nelson and other Democrats who might as well be Republicans. Put em in tgheir place or let em leave. They're not doing us any good anyway.

Mean as in fight the GOP -- and corporate oligarchs -- on their terms. Stop wussing out.

Liberal and mean as in standing up for the real interests of real people -- with no godamn apologies.

Liberal as in believing that the real interests of the majority of the public trump those of corporate oligarchs and Wall St. greedheads and other fat cats.

Liberal as in believing the government has a valid role to play in regulating the economy for the greater good by setting and enforcing basic rules of the road.

Liberal as in believing the government has a valid role in providing important services that vthe private sector will not or cannot meet.

to be approved by his committee from now on.

Just the spicy stuff. Wouldn't want any "extreme" food, would we Joe? Gotta stick with the "moderate" noodles and such, but none of that radical Kung Pao Chicken.

7. What good is a "majority" if you donlt use it and let it paralyze you"
I'm not advocating for minority status.

But when we do get a majority, we always seem to let the ConservaDems and Vichy Democrats undermine any progress anyway.

5. Keep dreaming.
Maybe after a debacle in 2010.

Of course, the Milbanks and the Kleins will be telling us that Obama had been "too liberal" and that progressives were to blame for the HCR debacle.

Which be the same old lie, as usual.

6. I want a party leadership that makes the powers that be in this country wake up in a cold sweat
every night. I want someone in office who opposes the DLC dems and Blue Dogs, making their lives a living hell. People like Holy Joe are quickly marginalized. I want someone who pushes the righties into a complete and utter meltdown. I want someone who is not afraid to be a Liberal Democrat for a change and not some corporate shill.

You advance the teabaggers with your fatalistic conservative defeatism

Does it ever cross your mind that a really liberal party thatr stands up for people might actually attract a bigger tent?

19. Yes -- But that's not inevitable
Some places will always be a lost cause, maybe.

BUT peopel are noit as predictable as you might think.

For example, some of the states that voted for Bush ALSO voted to increase their state's mimimum wage in the same election. That is a clearly liberal concept.

Democrats could win over a lot of people you might assume would be written off with some smart strategy -- the right candidates -- and some damn progressive(liberal) populist backbone on the bread-and-butter issues.

Bernie Sanders, the most "radical" member of Congress and an avowed socialist, consistently wins support across the spoectrum in Vermont. Not because the "greenies" only support. A lot of hardassed working-class peopel too, because they know he is fighting for their interests.

22. Can you at least be original?
You assume that liberalism -- not communism, not "socialism" -- but real liberalism that clearly stands up for the real economic interests of real people is destined to be an exclusionary party?

Spoken like a true conservative.

You don't like liberalism?

And you call ME a teabagger for advocating liberalism?

There is a party for people who dislike liberals and what they stand for. It's called the GOP. If you dislike liberals, that's your philosophical home.
