What happened to the Yes We Can campaign? |
|
Edited on Thu Dec-17-09 09:11 PM by rollingrock
...the uplifting and brilliant Yes We Can campaign has turned out to be the No We Can't administration.
all I hear from the Obama WH and his supporters these days is endless excuses as to why we can't do this, can't do that, can't get the public option, can't get medicare buy-in, can't hold Bush accountable, can't sign the landmine ban, can't end the war, can't get any kind of progressive legislation accomplished, can't do prescription drug re-importation, can't do this, can't do that, on and on and on and on...and on it goes ad nauseum. since the end of the campaign, the White House has been singing an entirely different tune. this is not what I voted for!! what about you?
My suggestion for Obama's new campaign slogan in 2012: NO WE CAN'T!
....much more fitting don't you think?
edit: oops, I meant to post this in the GD forum.

4. Can't hold torturers, banksters, fraudsters or food poisoners accountable- despite |
|
mountains of evidence.
That one's just been inexplicable- and inexcusable.

5. I thought his almost very first day, "no we can't legalize marijuana |
|
even though that is THE #1 issue that my own "Change.gov" survey revealed as highly impt" was quite brilliant myself--a gentle prelude to the rest of the letdowns to come while appearing to be about an "unimportant" or "trivial" issue.

16. Uh, the whole Obama campaign was feel good consumerism and manipulation. |
|
I certainly didn't drink the cool-aid throughout the elections. Because we live in a new information age, the whole campaign was a viral regurgitation of marketing 101.

I never got it, but I'm over 30 and much more cynical than some others.
But, we voted for him and now we have to work with what we have.
I've grown to like him, too.

A simple competition.
Governing is another thing. There's Congress and the Courts. They are supposed to be separate powers.
