Clear winner in fundraising race: Obama by a mile...
Edited on Thu Jul-07-11 04:19 AM by Drunken Irishman
Mitt Romney fundraising sparks Republican fears

The Republican presidential fundraising reports are still coming in, but a clear winner has already emerged: Barack Obama.

Whoever claims the GOP nomination is going to find it close to impossible to keep pace with the president’s fundraising juggernaut.

That was the lesson of the first real quarter of the money chase, when it was revealed Wednesday that Republican frontrunner Mitt Romney—the GOP’s pale version of a cash-collecting machine—raised just over $18 million.

...

As for Obama, his re-election campaign and a joint fund set up with the Democratic National Committee have ostensibly set a $60 million goal for the quarter – a sum Democratic sources say they’re sure to exceed when forms are filed with the Federal Election Commission on July 15th.

3. The republicans do not have to be concerned about fundraising anymore. The SC ruling
on Citizens United gives them billions.

11. SCARY, huh? I have a very bad feeling...
that 2012 will be the end of our attempt to try & turn this country around!!

If you have any positives to share please do!

I just hope David Brooks is correct about the Independents flocking to Obama if the Republicans refuse to raise taxes on the Wealthy & Oil Companies.

12. IMO, there are some positives in this report by 538 (Nate Silver) which hints at GOP
losing moderates faster than Democrats. The charts are interesting.

5. Funding isn't important - Third party spending is ALREADY outspending campaign funding.
http://www.kcet.org/shows/socal_connected/undertheinfluence/us-house/backgrounder-citizens-united-and-washington.html

"There were campaigns this last time (the 2010 election) where third party spending was more than the candidates'," said Democratic fundraiser Mike Fraioli. "And they spend a couple million."

As one noted above: thanks to the Supreme Court + Citizens United.

8. This is excellent news. Believe it or not, there are "Democratic" sites on the net....
where fundraising is brisk, and even celebrated. Since DU has become a Free Republic knock-off, I don't expect Obama's fundraising abilities to be met with much jubilance here.

15. I find it interesting you put "Democratic" in quotes
I agree. I don't think anyone throwing financial support to the President right now is actually a Democrat.
