Budget Talks: Pelosi to Return to the White House Friday

Budget Talks: Pelosi to Return to the White House Friday

By Carol E. Lee and Janet Hook

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi will return to the White House on Friday for a meeting with President Barack Obama, giving the president a chance to make his case directly to the California Democrat who could be an impediment to his goal of a sweeping defiict reduction deal that would tackle entitlements and taxes.

Ms. Pelosi, who attended a larger meeting Mr. Obama hosted at the White House Thursday with congressional leaders, will meet with the president Friday at 10 a.m., people familiar with the matter said.

Last week, Mr. Obama met with other congressional leaders – Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D.,Nev.), Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R.,Ky.) and House Speaker John Boehner (R.Ohio) on the budget negotiations.

House Democrats are likely to be among the toughest opponents of a budget deal curbing Social Security and Medicare spending.

1. They cut or do a chained COLA and they are Republicans to me
and I don't vote for Republicans, I work to keep them out of power.

Don't forget to keep on your congressperson. I'm lucky that I have one of the "good ones" but I've called him a couple of times anyway just to say I'll stand behind him when he "does the right thing."

As of this morning, I've e-mailed the WH 6 times on this topic (they've probably got my name on auto-delete) - don't know if that helps at all, but don't forget to do that, too.

We can't NOT fight!
