There are very, very few people here who support Obama no matter what. But the number who will bash him regardless are legion.

That's why you see so few sticking to issues... when someone states they like something Obama is doing, or they say they will wait until he actually does something instead of becoming outraged by the he's going to he wants to he plans on bovine excrement from unnamed sources, the kitchen sink gets thrown at them.

I'm not about to blame someone for something some anonymous person is saying he plans to do. That is not lock step. That is common sense.

If and when Obama actual screws those on medicare or social security, he'll get an earful from me every free moment I have. Until that time, this is all bullshit speculation and people should be ashamed for being so weak and feeble minded!

I have yet to see any Obama supporter on this board articulate specifically what action of his would be sufficient that they would no longer support him.

I suppose you would include me in the category of those who would "bash him regardless". Well, let me put that in some context. Back during the primaries my spidey-sense told me that Obama was a fake. But I chose to stuff those feelings and get onboard anyway. During the campaign I supported him to the extent I was able. I stood in line for over two hours to hear him speak at a stadium, here. I made a small donation to his campaign.

On election day I walked neighborhoods all day with a list of Democratic voters, checking to see if those individuals had voted, were going to vote, needed transportation to the poll etc. The day after the election I went to the local party store and got 3 helium filled balloons (red, white & blue) which I attached to the Obama sign in my front yard. My neighbors, most all Republicans, must be laughing their asses off about now.

So, here we are, two and a half years later, and Obama has continued to act in ways that are MORALLY repugnant to me. Yet, because he has a D after his name, I guess we should maintain our support. Well, I'm not Catholic, but if I'm not mistaken, even the Catholic Church recognizes the primacy of conscience. I wonder why DU cannot do the same.

So, here are my unconscionables, as it were...

approving drone strikes that kill innocent people along with insurgents (aka. citizens trying to defend their country from foreign occupation);

claiming the right to assassinate American citizens, without due process, anywhere in the world; maintaining black prison sites such as Bagram in Afghanistan, and probably in many other locations around the world;

denying habeas corpus;

extending the Patriot Act;

killing (or refusing to fight for) the public option;

refusing to prosecute the Bush war criminals (and leaning on the Spanish govt. to shut down their own investigation);

cracking down on whistle blowers, including making pretentious statements regarding Bradley Manning such as, "He broke the law". Obama wasn't worried about "the law" when it came to the BFEE crimes, was he?;

presiding over the total destruction of our public education system.

And that's only a partial "list". If anyone here can salve his or her conscience and find a way to make the above actions acceptable, then be my guest. I've reached my vomit quota.
