Obama: Uncertainty over debt limit impacts hiring
again with the uncertainty. Last time, it was the uncertainty about the Bush tax cuts being extended.

When they reach a deal on the debt limit, any guesses on what's the next thing the bosses will be uncertain about?

Obama: Uncertainty over debt limit impacts hiring
(AP) – 6 minutes ago

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama says the uncertainty over whether lawmakers will raise the nation's debt limit is keeping businesses from hiring.

Speaking in the Rose Garden, Obama says that once Congress reaches an agreement on the debt ceiling, businesses will have the confidence they need to add workers to their payrolls.

The report out Friday morning showed employers added the fewest jobs in nine months and the unemployment rate rose to 9.2 percent. Congressional Republicans and GOP presidential hopefuls used the dismal report to slam Obama's economic agenda.

The reports come as Democrats and Republicans near an urgent deadline to increase the nation's borrowing power and prevent the U.S. from defaulting on its obligations.

1. There is probably some truth in that. If the Republicans plunge the world into a massive depression
. . .they seem to be willing to do it.

2. Uncertainty over whether some Democrats stand for liberal principals...
and support the middle class will impact the casting of my vote between now and forever.

4. Uncertainty about tax cuts was BS. But uncertainty over debt limit is a very valid confidence killer

Everyone knew that raising taxes on the wealthy wasn't going to impact jobs in any significant manner, just as they knew maintaining current rates was not going to spur any significant job growth. I think even the Republicans know this, but they lie about it.

But not raising the debt ceiling has real consequences that could impact the entire global economy, not just ours. Everyone also knows this. Its definately not to blame for all of our economic stagnation, but I believe it is one issue that can be blamed.

5. Bullshit

If there was any kind of fear over a debt limit default, we would have seen the yield on the 10 year treasury note rise dramatically.

It's only at 3%. A default is not even being considered by the financial markets. They feel a deal will be reached and the limit will be raised.

What a ridiculous statement by Obama.

The reason why businesses aren't hiring is because there is not enough demand. The economy is structurally flawed and we never did enough to fix it after the financial crisis.

Exactly! It is bullshit right wing, disaster capitalist talking point. It is the same argument that the World Bank and the IMF use to completely FUCK other countries economies. Institute "austerity" for the workers so the rich can get richer.

I've been disappointed in Obama since the appointment of Geithner and Summers. Now, I am just fucking, furious. No way, no how, this predatory capitalist gets re-elected. Not as a Democrat.
