Bernie Sanders reminds Obama of his campaign promise
http://vtdigger.org/2011/07/08/sanders-hands-off-social-security/

“I am especially disturbed that the president is considering cuts in Social Security after he campaigned against cuts in 2008,” Sanders added. Obama made his position clear on Sept. 6, 2008, when he said: “John McCain’s campaign has suggested that the best answer for the growing pressures on Social Security might be to cut cost of living adjustments or raise the retirement age. Let me be clear: I will not do either,” Obama said. “The American people expect the president to keep his word,” Sanders said.

5. "Obama has made his position clear."
Why so many here don't know his position is beyond me.

Thanks for the reminder Sen. Sanders.

7. That was during the campaign.
His position now is equally clear - he will cut benefits. So he was either lying during the campaign, or he has become a Republican over the last 3 years. I wish he would come out and admit which it is.

6. Living in VT, we take Bernie for granted sometimes...
But it is rare to see a Senator make such moral, impassioned arguments on the house floor. Bernie makes us proud in VT. He is perhaps the last hope, and voice of sanity within a system that has obviously gone awry. He is my last excuse to vote.
