Face it - Obama has our number
Edited on Sat Jul-09-11 12:04 AM by MannyGoldstein
Whatever he does, he'll always suck less than a Republican, and we'll vote for him. He can throw turds at us with impunity.

I fucking hate it but its true. The bankers won on this one.

Good night.

1. You're right. If we're faced with a choice of the lesser of two
evils, I'll take the lesser. Even if I'd given up on Obama (which I haven't).

Goodnight, Manny. :hi:

4. The difference is
that the last time I voted without holding my nose (which doesn't get included in the totals), and we sent him money.

This time the nose (and money) will be (with)held.

5. of course.
The base always turns out to vote. That's why they can be safely ignored. The ones the politicians appeal to are the ignorant moderates, who only turn out if they feel like it.

11. I will say that this time that is a dangerous assumption for him to make.
The past is not always to predictor of future events, especially in tremulous times.
There is a line many of us will not cross. I will not vote for anyone who would enable the
destruction of SS and medicare under any guise or pretense.

It would be arrogant for Obama and his advisors to assume that they can abuse us repeatedly
and like an abused spouse we will not leave his side. This is a game that not only risks his
re-election, but risks the welfare of this country going forward, There is an irrationality in
his line of reasoning that I find jarring to say the least.

13. They Miscalculated In 2010 And I Think They Got Taken By Surprise........
and I believe that most of his base was still with him and the Dems in 2010. If he caves on this issue - he'll lose a big part of his base. People will justify it by sitting out the election and voting neither Dem or Repug. If a Repug gets elected they'll say - they didn't vote for him/her.

12. You insult the rest of the Democratic Party.
It's not Obama is any better than them. If he can't do the job we nominated him to do, he should not get the nomination.

14. Who's your challenger?
And what are the words that you'll hear that will convince you that they can do whatever you think the President hasn't been able to do?

If they haven't been POTUS, how will you know how they will govern once they're in the WH?

15. Nobody would hold up to their new and improved since Obama took office standard.
And us "apologists" would get to do some vetting. It wouldn't be pretty.

Obama has shown open contempt for liberals more than once, if not directly, then through surrogates.
He finds us both irritating and troublesome, so emotional, you know.

He was happy enough to take our money and our votes, but other than that he is as they say,
he is just not that into us.

22. One thing that never can be faked is enthusiasm
Humphrey lost to Nixon because Democratic activists lacked sufficiententhusiam for him. It takes me one hour a year to vote Democratic. Obama will get my vote over the Republican in 2012. I've lost any enthusiasm for Obama anf there is no mental over ride for loss of all enthusiasm. People who share my feelings may want to pretned otherwise and force themselves to be active on Obama's behalf. All well and good, but it never is the same, never. Not even close.

26. Especially frustrating is that we all know (and he does too) that
he will be re-elected. Yet, he refuses to stand strong on Democratic principles. There is no reason at this stage of the game for him to be so complacent to repuke policies.
