Sounds like Boehner's holding out for Ryan's Medicare plan insisting on 'fundamental' reform
to entitlements, that is. Boehner just held a short news conference on his way to the White House again insisting on no tax increases on 'job creators' knowing any tax increases in Obama's plan won't take effect until 2013 at the earliest. President explicitly stated this today in his 11am press conference.

1. I just don't get it - it's not as though the Republican constituents
are in favor of "fundamental reform" to SS & Medicare. It's political suicide for both parties, IMO.

2. It's all about House Republican's having to run in 2012 having voted for Ryan plan
They are worried sick the Dems will ram it down their throats.

4. I hope we do -- I hope we don't forget. New Dem sound bite:
"X voted for the Medicare-killing Ryan Plan." Over and over and over.

Medicare-killing Ryan Plan. What could be more simple? But instead we're all over the place, trying to get too much info into our responses. People zone out, they need a bite that will stick. And repeat. And repeat.

5. I know. Even teabaggers think it is a bad idea, from polling I've seen.
And I don't understand why the Republicans are so fucking dug in on the tax issue. Most americans like the idea of closing corporate tax loopholes and raising taxes on the wealthiest Americans.

7. Sure, the Americans like it when it's presented to them that
way (honestly), but the Republicans like to make it sound as though it's US who will get the tax "hikes". They are deplorable. :grr:

If the people knew the facts in most instances, they'd realize that the Dems ARE the ones fighting for them.

8. Yes, Republicans are very good at that--making it sound like everyone will be taxed more!
And, the reason they get away with it, is our lazy, corrupted media.

9. And, to beat a dead horse (my number one complaint) we
suck at getting the message out!

Since the media is lazy and corrupted, just give them a 30 second sound bite. Medicare-killing Ryan budget, for example.

They kind of had a go at it with the "corporate jet" thing, but the Republicans shot it down and we pretty much shut up. They need a mouth like Grayson's. And Weiner's. And ours. :7 :hi:

10. That's what scares me
It definitely looks like "political suicide", so I have to wonder what the republicans are up to. Maybe they're just too stubborn to admit they were wrong, but they can be so devious, my imagination is painting some evil master plan.

:hi:

3. I am going to break it to you gently as I can. When Politicians
say "American People"/ The American People want this
or The American People do not like that. They are
referring to those Americans who earn 75 Thousand annually
and those above 75 thousand. This is the Republican
constituency. HOWEVER, when the DLC was formed, it
was formed with the specific goal of going after
these same voters and Business Owners. Yes there are
wealthy Democrats but our Candidates are vying for
some Republican Votes and the Republicans are vying
for some Democratic Votes. Now think about this group
above 75 thousand have a financial stake in the country
so they vote. It is this group both parties are aiming
to please. I say both parties because the DLC/Third Way
run the Party.

The Republicans keep their lower income earners pacifid
with God, Guns and Gay and Abortion legislation as
they (lower income Republicans) get royally skrewed
by the others. A little bit of this goes on in the
Democratic Party as well. If they have to make a choice
betwwen supporting legislation that helps the more
well off over the less well off, yes they will vote
for the more well-off.

Someday the Working Class will totally wake up and
Sadie bar the door.

11. Hardball: Chris Van Hollen just said the Republicans' idea of Medicare reform is adopting Ryan plan
which, of course, voucherizes Medicare and leaves seniors to the whims of private insurance companies.
