Boehner abandons responsibility to protect full faith and credit of U.S.

by Barbara Morrill

Last Friday, John Boehner said:

While some think that, you know, we can go past August the 2nd, I frankly think it puts us in an awful lot of jeopardy and puts our economy in jeopardy, risking even more jobs.

<...>

At the end of the day, we've got to have a bill that we can pass through the House and the Senate. This is a Rubik's Cube that we haven't quite worked out yet.

Today Boehner says:

When’s he going to lay his cards on the table? This debt-limit increase is his problem, and I think it’s time for him to lead by putting his plan on the table, something that the Congress can pass.

Because for Boehner and the Republican party, protecting loopholes for corporations and making sure millionaires keep their tax cuts is more important than protecting the full faith and credit of the United States.
