Anybody care to join in? :loveya:
People (including myself) forget that he is an experienced poker player. I don't know when he last played, but I remember hearing he was good at it. :)

2. I don't think there is another Democrat who would be doing a better job. |

I also don't think that a white Democrat would have engendered all the hate that Obama has been experiencing from the birther wing of the Republican body -- which comprised 70% of Republicans at one point.

I want a second term for a lot of reasons. Not least because I think we'll see his best self comparatively unencumbered. We need it.

And they did it without the Presidency or Congress. Good thing they underestimated him on that one.
And, now we have proof that the WH admitted to raising the Medicare age to 67.

Oh, please let me know what has been signed and given away so far. 'Cause all I know right now is the next phase is to reach an agreement.
Or are you falling into the camp of that great Rumsfeld speech: "The message is that there are no knowns. There are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns. That is to say there are things that we now know we don't know. But there are also unknown unknowns. There are things we don't know we don't know. So when we do the best we can and we pull all this information together, and we then say well that's basically what we see as the situation, that is really only the known knowns and the known unknowns."
You know?

That's an incredible claim. "he hasn't let me down yet". Perhaps your definition of perfection is somewhat lower than mine, because there is pretty much no one who I have ever depended on who would fit that. You never felt a twinge of disappointment when we didn't get a public option, or when the rich got their tax cut after all? I am "let down" when things do not go as I feel they should, even if I realistically know they won't.
But skipping that philosophic argument, yes, in light of some of the failures and disappointments, there was doubt. Credit where it is due, standing up today gives my sense of hope a huge boost. It backs me down off my "damit, we need a challenger from the left" soapbox. But that soapbox ain't stuffed back in the closet yet. As a skeptic, I'm not sure whether the President outfoxed the repubs(if so elegantly done), or the repubs out stupid-ed President Obama(an option I would never dismiss given how stupid oriented they are). I guess, as with most things, I will judge it by the end result. At the end of this, are SS and medicaid getting cut?
In the mean time I will go back to giving the president the benefit of that doubt. Something I was not prepared to do 3 days ago. For whatever that is worth I really hope that with 2 terms he will have the drive to go down as the best president yet.

Some of us were pissed when we heard that the president had offered raising the Medicare age. We were called traitors and told that it was bullshit. Now we find out that, sure enough, he did his usual advance fold. But now we're asked to jump for joy over a success that is nebulous at best and will probably be much less than Big Media is currently letting on.
