So Lindsey Graham just admitted this whole debt ceiling crisis is manufactured bullshit
See here ----->> http://www.politico.com/blogs/glennthrush/0711/Graham_GOP_has_no_one_to_blame_but_ourselves_.html

All the Republicans are trying to do is extract concessions from Obama without giving up anything on their end. They won't even end tax breaks for oil companies and corporate jets even thought the vast majority of the American people are for it. These people are a joke.

This is exactly what most of us suspected all along. But this begs the question: Why in the world is Obama even playing ball with these assholes? Obama should have told them to take a hike from the get go. Why is Obama even proposing about 4 to 1 spending cuts to revenue increases? Republicans will cave eventually anyways because they are beholden to the Wall Street bond holders.

Here's how the debt ceiling negotiations in the White House should have gone:

Cantor/Boner: Hey Obama, we want 100% spending cuts and NO tax increases or we won't increase the debt ceiling. We want cuts to Medicare, Social Security and Medicaid. We won't even end the tax breaks for oil companies and corporate jets even though corporations are making record profits. Got it?

Obama: Fuck you. Get the fuck out of my house.

This is how you deal with these assholes who try to manufacture bullshit for political purposes and don't care whether or not the American people suffer.

2. Well, Graham gave the answer right there:
"... if they can pass something out of the House that raises the debt limit that changes the reason we got in debt..."

Yep, Lindsey, get rid of tax cuts for the wealthy and out-of-control military spending, and the debt issue will be solved.

3. He's actually done that. He had to smoke them out to show their
true colors, before he could say, as he did yesterday, "I will not yield". Listen to Laurence O'Donnell's last two shows. He really lays it out very clearly. And, remember, nothing is agreed on until everything is agreed on.

5. This is the second post and the second time I've read it, but I just don't see
that it's "manufactured bullshit". I mean, it IS, but I don't see where Graham is admitting that. He's just saying we shouldn't have played that card unless we were sure we could pull it off.

I think words are being put in his mouth and people are interpreting "what he was really saying". It hate that when they do it to us, I hate it when we do that to them (there's plenty they DO say to find fault with).

Eeeek -- do I sound like a Lindsey apologist? :scared: Not my intent, just want us to keep from going off the rails.

In my often-way-wrong opinion, natch. :7

6. Unrec - sounds like it's heading into "Blame Obama" territory
Which is, coincidentally, what Crazy-Ass McConnell has now lapsed back into doing outright:

And here in this OP is the attack from the Left.

7. Why in the world do you think that would have been better?
The end result regarding the debt ceiling would probably have been the same, but in your scenario the majority of Americans would see it as just another of those partisan squabbles that they hate. By doing it his way President Obama has polished his image and that of his Party, and has allowed the Republican Party to humiliate themselves in an unprecedented manner.

Where've you been, with this expertise on dealing with highly placed Republicans?

He should listen to my advice. He will be reelected in a landslide if he does :hi:
