Let me fill you in a little on unemployment in the public sector and what it really means
I think, and I hope, people will start to wake up and see what is actually going on. The big job crisis in this country is in the public sector.

Private employment has grown more than all 8 years of Bush combined..and then some

example:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/40923350/ns/business-stocks_and_economy/t/private-sector-job-growth-surges-report-says/

But when the republicans got into power in 2010 in the state houses.. the cutting and gutting of public sector jobs began.

These are real honest to GOD jobs, paying decent money to people, many times minorities.. and cutting and gutting these jobs will skew the unemployment crisis.

This is what was planned from the get go.. if they could get in power and why they "talked" jobs before the election and did NOTHING after.

This is also why you have red governors turning down money for rail systems etc that would build the infrastructure and employ people.

As long as the republican t party people who are being backed by Koch and Murdoch etc are in power.. they will continue this strategy because it gets them back in power.

They are not going to back down on this. So our only hope is to get people out to vote.. not sit home.. off year elections are bad bad bad for that.

We have to vote them out.. all of them.

Think about Walker in Wisc. and Pa., Fla.. etc.. Steve King here in Iowa (he has been up for re-election twice and refuses to debate his opponent both time..)

I am telling you from my heart and from experience.. the longer they stay and get dug in, the harder it is going to be to move them out.

The time is now to keep the message going and clean house of the t party people.

That sickly smirk you see on all those reps from the t party.. the ryan the cantor..they are pod people and will never ever deal

They have been working 24/7 to rid their party of all rational republicans.

We gotta turn out that vote

1. I work for a school district in Florida
as a Special Needs TA. I am considering quitting with all the BS going on here. I have, and can, go back to working with the special needs population (adults) in the non-profit sector. However, these Teabaggers are even cutting funding for this. No, I WILL NOT get a "real job" in the FOR PROFIT sector. I WILL NOT start my own for profit business, although for the past 40 years people in two different states have said they would buy my product. Why? Because I care too much for the kids and adults I have taken care of. The wonderful teachers my own special needs children had growing up makes me want to more than how much PROFITS I can make. To see the look in these kids or adults eyes when you do something for them, or they finally "get it", is worth more than all the money in the world.

These Teabaggers and Corporations are totally clueless. Personally, I don't care much for Social Security or Medicare for MYSELF. I do care about OTHER PEOPLE'S needs. I care about those who are less fortunate, financially or physically, than I am. I am fortunate to be able to do what I can at my age. I want to use that to HELP OTHERS, as my own children were helpted by others.

Although I consider myself an agnostic, there are some things I still retain from my religious upbringing. Do unto others, etc., and as you do for the least among you, etc., I still believe in. I don't remember ANYTHING about greed or for profits in any of that.

Take your corporate profits and millionaire tax cuts and shove them where the sun doesn't shine.

but we had funds (for our office)come through the public sector.. Its a sad state of affairs. I would go to health fairs and collect toothbrushes to hand out to families.. and free pens and pencils that I could use.

These small government types have not a clue.

I swear they look like they have been brainwashed. They stare straight ahead, with that sick smirk on their faces.. do not answer questions and just keep repeating what ever mantra they took up that day.

5. yep...hatred for the liberals has divided the vote
and the big half went PC. We're not center right, we're all the way right. And Harper has a Religious Right component which makes me very afraid!

6. Texas' big shortfall is due to revenue decline and federal funding decline.
Tax payments lag the recession a bit--you pay taxes on the previous quarter or the previous year, so if your income flatlines in 2009 the taxes you're paying on 4/15/09 don't reflect that.

In 2009 there was a lot of federal money. It was called "stimulus" but a large number of billions of dollars went to funding state workers. When the private sector was collapsing the public sector was doing not so bad. The only way to prevent the public-sector employment bloodbath is to sharply increase taxes. Now, I could understand that, on one condition: When revenues increase the tax increases are phased out. Put in place to handle decreased revenues during a recession, when the recession is over they'd just make for increased government--until the next recession, when another round of butt-covering tax increases would be needed.

After a deep round of cuts, private-sector job growth is typically rather steep. It's absurdly slow this time. The 2001 recession was slight and the job rebound was slight. Consider that part of the context and remember that context matters. At least when you're after understanding. For PR, context can be a pain in the rump.
