President Obama's campaign working to recruit the grass roots
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2011/07/15/obama-campaign-working-to-recruit-the-grass-roots/?hpt=po_bn2

On Saturday, the Obama campaign is hosting about 1,000 events across the country as it tries to enlarge its base of grass-roots activists for the 2012 presidential campaign. A major priority for the Obama team has been to reactivate its network of supporters who were considered key to its 2008 victory.

"This weekend will be our campaign's single biggest organizing opportunity of the summer," wrote Jeremy Bird, the campaign's national field director, in an e-mail to activists.

About 1,500 summer organizers will lead efforts at voter registration, door-knocking and attending public events, asking people to sign petitions committing their support: "a massive day of activism" is how one campaign aide put it.

"One volunteer at a time, we're going to build the biggest grassroots network that politics has ever seen," Bird vowed.

1. after dissing us for two years NOW they want us back to work for them? LOL!
Good luck with THAT.

At best I *might* consider holding my nose and voting for him as the lesser of two evils - maybe....

8. xPost from another DUer, maybe it is time for us to just let it blow up in politician's faces

I see a certain logic there, even while it frightens the crap out of me. But maybe that OP has a point. The DEMS controlled congress for 4 years, 2 with a "Democratic" President. And where are we today? No jail time (or even indictments) for the crooks that destroyed our 401ks and tanked the economy. No investigations of Bush/Cheny, Inc. Candidate Obama gave us the impression that he was going to get in office and kick ass and take names but instead he has been dubbed "The Compromiser in Chief." No jobs because Pres. Obama "believes in trickle down economics," "believes in the market." Thanks for nothing, Mr. President.

Anyway, here's the other discussion. See if you agree or disagree:

16. I'm sure this "gifted" author will have something else to write about
after November 2012, if his wish becomes reality.

I think these fools need to see the real true difference between the parties,
because it is obvious that they still don't have a clue or they ain't got
shit to lose.

And here I thought the Teabaggers were the only ones who act against their best interest
because they are out to make their point, no matter how much they have to suffer for it.
So naive about the fact that politics ain't a fucking fairy tale....

22. So you're ok as long as you get the lube
Either way you're getting f*cked, just a matter of whether it bleeds a little or bleeds a lot.

You're jumping up and down in praise of "getting the lube" and I'm saying the other poster wants to turn the tables.

Let's just wait and see what happens with Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Student Loan funding, etc., between now and election day 2012. We'll see what you think is a fairy tale on that day when you get to choose between "Corporate Party A" and "Corporate Party B" -- won't that be cause for celebration!

3. Do they know what 'grassroots' means?
Highly funded, central, national organization is not exactly 'grassroots'.

5. 200,000+ new donors, but how many of the previous donors have they lost?
that's the question.

I know they lost my son, hubby, me, and my mom. Tho my brother is still a supporter.

I strongly suspect that we are not the only people who gave our max $$$ in the last election cycle, and worked hard going door to door, manning phone banks, and helping with mailings - who will be sitting this one out.

We'll vote - perhaps for him, perhaps not, but we will not be working for him or donating.

He can get all the money he needs from his corporate buddies.

...or any of my friends that he had last year. I've convinced three new ones to join us. Isn't it great how things work out?

13. I wonder what the pitch to them is...
"Hey, remember me? I'm the guy who made a lot of promises a few years ago and you followed me. Well, this will be my last term coming up, so this time I'll mean those promises."

I will always wonder about those more interested in exacting punishment
on an individual, even if it means their own demise.
Now those are the real MFs...for sure!
